Electrocute changes are a buff and not a nerf

i think 50% cdr is a little overkill compensation for -20 damage Already 3 times as powerfull as thunderlords decree Thunderlord's Decreev • e Thunderlord's Decree Effects Hitting an enemy champion with an ability (ability damage) or basic attack (on-hit) marks them with Thunderlord's Decree for 3 seconds. At 3 stacks, the target is dealt 10 - 180 (based on level) + (30% bonus AD) + (10% AP) magic damage in an area around them. Thunderlord's Decree can only be triggered once every 25 - 15 (based on level) seconds.

It's a clear nerf to frontloaded burst (which btw the most addressed kind of dmg by people here) and it compensates buffing its CD. Now you have to get it twice by that burst combo to die, so you can't complain, it's only your fault. Plus the ad and ap scalings are getting reduced as well.

Btw I would make it 30/35s CD lvl 1 tbh.

QmegaSquadVeigar10 votes

Not really, the frontloaded dmg is reduced but the keystone is gonna be slightly stronger in lane due to the CD reduction but after that it's gonna fall off. I think its a good idea of it being something like reverse dark harvest worse scaling for better landing.

How does it fall off when there's never a late game for it to reach its falloff point?

Are you fucking kidding me? The main problem with Electrocute Is in the Laning Phase

charge attack3 votes

It’s a buff for mages and a nerf for assassins.

Mages can proc it off CD whereas assassins still want to 100-0 you with it.

Ahris3 votes

Zed can just proc it with w q e? Fizz can just Q auto w E? Katarina can do something similar? They also already has a lot of burzt that electrocrute just did overkill damage.

It is a nerf to Ahri though since she doesnt even have as much damage as other champs.

That's good actually, we always could use some ahri nerfs.

Ahris2 votes

Why? What did she do to get your hatred? Ive noticed many people just hates Ahri a lot.

I guess for Ahri she cant be in neutral ground

LTK KoRo4 votes

Ahri was on the neutral ground before charm buffs. I can agree she does have some problems, but she's really strong now, and she could use a nerf. Maybe a small one.

As a champion, i like Ahri. Her kit is fun, and she isn't obnoxious to play against unless she can burst people with e+q+w. But some Ahri mains are making me mad, Ahri is a slippery mage, she should be able to burst squishies only, and do it while committing at least one of her ult charges to do that. I saw Ahri mains which totally believe she was good only during DFG times, and it makes me angry about her.

Illabethe2 votes

You do realize adding .4 to her level 1 charm's duration isn't exactly a huge impact? Tenacity shortens it and it's not like she gets in a second round of skills during the duration....

LTK KoRo1 votes

It gives her more safety and better trading in lane. Before this change you had a bigger window to fight back when ahri hit you with the e+q. Now basically you cannot fight back. It was a huge buff to Ahri lvls 2-9.

Agreed as an Ahri main. Also before the changes the charm was useless because the follow up Q never hit and the mana took up 1/3 the mana bar on top of that you would do dmg worth less than a health potion so balancing this is the issue it seems. Therefore, other champions "windows", made her irrelevant. Unless you a God Ahri like me ofcourse!!!

Ahris1 votes

She was complete trash before the charm buff LOL. Pro players discussed she was trash and many ahri mains considered her trash. Even riot considered her too weak. She needed a buff regardless but she got a buff that doesnt solve her problems.

The only reasonable nerf to ahri is to revert the charm buff and instead buff her damage. Buffing damage would mean her winrate will be less since utility buff is more powerful than damage buff(though too much damage is also strong though).

If ahri can burst with e w q, what is wrong with that? She landed a difficult skillshot and landing all her skillshots. She used around 75% of her ability and even perhaps electrocrute proc. Which alone should mean she bursts the enemy.

You say Ahri should only burst squishies, which is fine if she can easily do so. Like how u said ahri is obnoxious if she can burst with e w q, but if Riot makes her R do damage, then ofc it should be included in her damage. But, look at Akali. She could kill people with or without her R. Her R has a very powerful stun and an execute. That spell alone with perhaps an auto will most likely kill a squishy.

Champs who has more risk to apply dash has easier time applying that damage once they get in range. Look at Akali, Zed, Talon, and Leblanc. Ahri does not have mobility pre 6 like them, so she doesnt have a constant mobility to label her as Assassin. She doesnt snowball as hard as them since she relies on landing skillshots. If she can't land it, no matter how fed she is(unless she is crazy fed and the enemy is crazy feeding and is Squishy).

If Ahri has to use one ultimate charge to commit while having the importance to land skillshot which is already difficult to use, what is the point of it? Other champs can kill people without ultimate like Syndra and Zed once they are fed.

So why does Ahri have to use ultimate to kill? Her ultimate cd isnt as low as Leblanc and her ability set is not as forgiving as Leblanc who can just blink back if she messes up. If Ahri does miss charm, against any player who actually uses their brain, Ahri is good as dead or will have to ultimate away. With so much risk of landing charm, then having required to use 1 ultimate charge to kill a squishy, well you are also ignoring that a fed ADC can just right click to chunk people from like 800 range. How is that fair?

So Ahri has to use ultimate to basically "comit" to burst when other champ doesnt need to? You are completely ignoring Ahri and her kit. Her kit is really weak as is and you make Ahri even weaker.

Her time was only strong during dfg time because her W and R had respectable range and damage. Now it is only used for bursting.

The steam life1 votes

Because she also has massive mobility and on demand cc. Also how are any of shots abilities hard to hit.

Ahris1 votes

I mean her Q is one of slowest skill shot(to apply full damage) in game and her charm is one of most narrowest skillshot in game.

The steam life1 votes

Her charm is normal width and her Q is one of the safest and easiest to land skills in the game. It really shouldnt do more damage than it does. Also relating to an earlier point of yours in a game i had yesterday the 1/4 ahri with 34 cs to my 70 killed me from 65% HP with nothing but ulti and w. Those abilities arent weak.

You probably died to electrocrute and ignite. Or even ludens. Her W and R alone is quite weak. How did you die from 65% hp? Do you have a video maybe?

Ahri's Q being one of safest? You are kidding me right? 880 range and super slow and the true damage part wont land against players who knows how to right click. If you are having a hard time dodging, then you should buy boots lol.

It is also a skillshot, it should do more damage. Currently it is meh and it is outscaled lategame despite its true damage. Ahri should be able to scale as hard as any APC because she doesnt have the utility other champs provide. She only has charm as her utility, everything else is selfish for only Ahri, so it should be stronger.

Because of people like you League is trash right now.

Yeah dude, its definitely a buff to champions who have to use long cooldown abilities, which if they use they literally cannot farm for 16+ seconds - and ideally want to kill you 100-0 in a combo.

It's definitley a nerf to a champion who can proc it off cooldown from range with autos or short CD spells at long range - and can farm from range.

Good analysis!

trying to be as unbiased as i could, she can't easily proc it in lane

Q AA doesn't proc it

Q AA AA does but you can get hard countertraded (+ minions aggro)

Q AA W after 2/3 of those you are OOM,also the same as the second one you have to stay near for a while and they countertrade you 3 times harder since you are trading with 2 abilities on the first place, and because her W damage is garbage

pls play a champion before doing this kind of comments

Good analysis!

They are nerfs for average jungle Assassins who only care about the burst itself. Might be better for return ganks though.

They are also nerfs for 100-0 mid lane Assassins like Zed and Fizz who usually try to combo it with their ults. Should be a buff for ranged users like LB, Ahri and Zoe.

Ahris2 votes

No it is a nerf to Ahri lol.

Zed can w q e and proc electrocrute much more easily than Ahri. Zed's burst is also VERY high that electrocrute wasnt even needed since his damage has not been balanced around electrocrute but thunderlords which is far weaker than electrocrute.

Electrocrute nerf is to champs who already struggle to burst. Ahri is one since she has to land charm q w r and still have trash lvl damage and is harder to apply than Zed or Fizz whose burst is already an overkill with electrocrute and mostly being targetted damage.

iDarkWind3 votes

If Zed hits the a double Q you mean. Meanwhile, Ahri's target W and a Q plus a Auto will proc it and it's much easier to land. Also, don't act like Ahri doesn't have damage or that is weak xD Isn't she with 52% or 54% Win rate at the moment? Fck off xD

Illabethe8 votes

It's not because of her damage. It's because..... like every 53-54% Champ, she doesn't die as often because she can practice at relatively safe ranges. Champs who get in and get dirty more often are the ones who have 50-48% win rates. But you'll still see pros play those get in and dirty champs at 70% win rates and have a 30-40% Ban rate on them.

That's also why Nami generally has good win rates. It's not because she contributes CC or heals or tiny amounts of damage. It's because her move speed makes her one of the least "Damage Taken" champs.

And champs who do not die..... don't contribute to gold curves. Not contributing to gold curves results in having a 5v5 game where the other team is actually getting the gold they would get in a 5v4; less bounties, less common gold gain.

Ahri's basically the difference between a team snowballing a 20k champ with a team of 13k champs and that team snowballing a 15k Champ with 4 12k Gold champs.

She does her damage.... sure. And can win a lot of 1v1's. But late game.... she generally sucks and people heal out of it, and her damage is really not at the top of the list as far as mages are concerned. Her damage is usually just annoying, because you often can't return the favor.

No

Shablagoo4 votes

How is it a buff? You lose 20-40 across the board, because the cd is less? They are still doing 20-40 dmg less.

Z3Sleeper7 votes

In terms of DPS calculations, it's a buff to early game.

In terms of burst, it's a nerf to early game.

And in terms of late game DPS and burst, it's a nerf to both late game.

My Waifu Vanilla8 votes

Assuming you're getting electrocuted ON cooldown. If you get hit by 3 of Zeds abilities ON COOLDOWN you have a bigger problem than "eLeCtRoCuTe oP". Dodge some shurikens.

Z3Sleeper2 votes

Assuming so yes. Which is why it's definitely a nerf to Electrocute's early game for melee Assassins since that's unrealistic.

My Waifu Vanilla2 votes

I'd also wager that even IF you get electrocuted on cooldown it is still probably going to do less damage in lane than live since assassins are losing quite a bit of "free damage" in lane in the forms of Sudden Impact and such getting nerfed at the same time. Honestly this might make Electrocute more appealing for more champions (Brand/Zyra might take it since the cooldown is much more manageable and Comet is already "mediocre" on them to begin with) while still hitting the more problematic champions.

If anything this nerf hits junglers the hardest since they USUALLY didn't worry about about the cooldown on the ability since it was basically always up during a gank since they were doing at least a camp or recalling between ganks where they do proc electrocute. Will probably shift Kayn and some other junglers back to Dark Harvest.

Z3Sleeper1 votes

Honestly I hope Dark Harvest never becomes meta. The rune is the literal definition of feast or famine.

"Dodge some shurikens while being slowed by the shadow E". Brilliant idea.

What's next, "Zoe is just fine, just dodge her sleepy trouble bubble"?

My Waifu Vanilla4 votes

Sleepy Trouble Bubble is slow af and doesn't go through minions. In order to get electrocuted it REQUIRES you to either sit on his shadow so he can take it and auto attack you OR you take two shurikens straight to the face. Also, even IF you don't dodge the shurikens, unless you are to the side of the lane like a bonobo his W+E+both Qs at level 5 does a whopping 330+1.48 bonus AD ratio before armor which most champions have ~35 armor which is 26% damage reduction. This STILL requires you to get hit by TWO skillshots where simply moving is usually enough to dodge at least one.

Dream High1 votes

It only takes 1 bubble though. You get hit once you're at best out of lane healing up, usually it results in a gray screen with nothing you can do about it.

Boards were creaming themselves over how TLD was healthier than Electrocute because of the weaker damage for a lower CD, which these changes push it basically back down to TLD levels of power (factoring in that we don’t have runes still)

Now this piece comes out. It’s like the community can’t actually decide what is balanced for the game and all these threads are a huge waste of time.

And to rebutte your post, it is a nerf. Zed and other asssassins can’t dump one huge burst load all in. In exchange, it means they have to trade/poke more to get the same effect. More interaction = more resources used/greater chance to fuck up. Also less upfront damage means you can react better or at least can’t say “wow that did 30% of my HP alone”

tl;dr you’re wrong.

LegitBusinessman3 votes

The point is after they use it the first time, you are actually still alive to drink a pot / regen up before it's back up.

Rathar Dashing3 votes

They're a buff overall, yes, but the fact they're making it deal less damage in it's initial burst, combined with the nerfs to sudden impact and cheap shot, it should make the rune more fair to play against.

Leto GT3 votes

It's going to do less damage late game but more during laning phase. I wouldn't call that a nerf either.

Its just going to make the abusers even stronger in lane. Zed, le blanc, katarina, ekko, akali. It means one easy electrocute for them per minion wave. I'm so pissed of the assassin's dominance right now.

Why they just didn't actually nerf this? I'm pretty sure aery will be straight nerfed, you'll see.
