How do you even play Kayle?

I got Kayle as a gift from Riot for good behavior, and the enforcer skin (the police officer one) but I can't seem to figure her out. She doesn't do a lot of damage and doesn't have a lot of armor even though she is melee. And then her ranged attack doesn't do a lot of damage. Am I building her wrong or something. I've been told she is a really great champion but I don't understand her. I've played several bot games and can't get kills because she is slow and doesn't do enough damage, you can't poke aside from the slow. Are you supposed to do AP or AD? Neither works really well on her I feel.

I mained Kayle in season 2 and still play her a lot. My core build path is generally speaking Nashor's tooth and zerkers greaves----> Lich bane -- >rabadon's---->Void staff---->defensive item (GA). Once you get nashor's and lich bane you really start hurting which is generally around mid game. Kayle's two strengths early game are 1)Her ability to farm very easy, and 2) Her ability to be very annoying 1v1. She isn't great in team fights until you get to mid game. Normally by late game you can just about global a squishy with q and a righteous fury auto attack. Also her heal heals around 600 and has a 10 second CD which is amazing. I don't go for kills in lane, I focus on farming and harassing since kayle doesn't have a lot of actual burst early or mid game it's tough to get kills on good players. Your main focus should be to just farm and get as much gold as possible so you can be relevant by mid game.

She pushes the lane hard which opens you up to jungle ganks, however the positives of this are your lane opponent now must farm under turret (which is more difficult) and you will be drawing the jungler to you, relieving pressure on your other lanes. Just make sure you ward one side and stick to it. Use your speed boost on your heal to escape.

She wants 40% CDR to keep her E up constantly and then she's basically an auto attacker.

You can play her as an ADC, but just remember that your build/masteries isn't going to be normal for that role. For instance you could go item 3158 item 3508 item 3071 in order to get your CD to 40%.

AP Kayle is the best. Start with either

item 2041 item 2003 x3 ; or item 1039 x2; or item 1076 x2

your core items on kayle are item 3115 item 3006 item 3089 item 3135

The way I know Kayle is as a insane wave pushing hyper scaling monster. Full attack speed runes with 15% car at lvl 18 (plus 5% form masteries, plus 20% from nashers is 40%). Rush Nashor's, into runaans. Full AP (get a rage-blade if you're having fun). Push waves endlessly, get tons of money, build more. Don't fight unless you are 100% sure you can get away with it. Don't go for kills, just keep wave pushing.

What you get is this: Ranged Aoe late game Fiora-level damage with invincibility for a few seconds. With a heal. And a slow.

item 3115 item 3085 item 3146 item 3157 item 3001 item 3006 is my preferred item build on Kayle. You arent the strongest 1 vs 1 but you make up for it with teamfight damage and that ulti of awesomeness. For skill order I generally go E>Q>E>Q>W>R then max R>Q>E>W as 2 points in E seems to be enough early-mid game to have it available when it is needed. You can change that of course depending on your matchup (against a lissandra I might max E before Q so I can focus farming at range). First item either Zhonya's or Abyssal depending on what type of damage the enemy laner is doing followed by Fiendish Codex and Hextech Gunblade. Finish up Nashor's tooth and Runaan's and pick up the other item at the end (if you grabbed an early zhonya's you can pick up a rabadons deathcap at the end in place of abyssal if MR isn't a concern). Kayle doesnt really need a Pen item thanks to her passive.

I have seen people go for an on-hit Shredding build on kayle as well so it might be something to consider. item 3153 item 3006 item 3071 item 3091 item 3085 item 3022

She definitely takes a bit of getting used to and finding your own way of playing her, but it is worth it once you do get the hang of her ^_^

I have only played her in ARAM, more than 5 times i think.... I did the suggested build and did great wit her, even a lot of multi kills, had a lot of fun with her! So dont give up!

She felt to me lake a late game champ so try focusing on farming.

But I lack the XP wit her, so I feel like and cant give any viable advice. Hope that someone that mains her comes along and give u some advice.

I like her with an attack speed / AP build. You want 40% CDR for 100% uptime on E as well as a low ult cooldown.

My build usually ends up being something like : item 3157 item 3115 item 3085 item 3135 item 3165 item 3020

You can swap morello's for athenes against heavy AP or drop both and go CDR boots with the 5% mastery. In that case deathcap is on the table if you want that AP boost. Berserker greaves are also perfectly fine, I just go other routes. 40% CDR is the most important part, Kayle jas a gairly large number of viable items available to her.
