WTF is up with Ranked Placements

Hey guys its a brand new ranked season! Aah, fresh starts. I just finished my last placement game and was really looking forward to a great start to the season. I ended my placements 7-3 and had an overall kd of 60-53 :/ I know its not amazing but I was hoping for at least Bronze 1 or something. However after finishing my final game I got placed in BRONZE 5... why? how? what did i do to deserve this? 7-3?? that deserves more than bronze 5. can anyone explain this to me please. im about to cry Thanks

I went 4-6 and was s5 last season. Got b5 as well

It's super complicated bit they basically cut your MMR in half.

So if you were at 1000 you went to 500.

And winning 7 games might of made you 600. But that's still bronze 5 mmr.

As of January 20th, which is right about when the new ranked season started, your MMR was about 900 http://www.lolking.net/summoner/na/52744601 which is like low B4 MMR. Sorry to say but you were already around this elo, and since a lot of people from silver (especially silver 5) get put back into bronze at the start of the season, you moved down a bit as well.

On the upside, you should have decent LP gains. Focus on improving, be positive, and you'll climb :)

Literally nearly exact thing happened to me where I won 7-3 and expected at least out of bronze and saw that I got bronze 5. Its ridiculous that doing so well in ranked placements will get you the same rank as if I were to play my placements with no arms and no eyes.
