Ok. Ok. I know exactly what you're thinking.

"Riven needs a buff, like I need a hole in the head"

But hear me out, she's in a terrible position right now.

I love Riven, from the bottom of my heart to the top. My first games with her, back in the middle of season 5, were ridiculously fun. Quadras and Triples and Victory screens galore. I adored this champion. However, i needed a new mid laner, and I picked up my main, Ahri (Who doesn't need a buff btw, she's super good) But i recently just decided to pick up my old love. It'd be fun to relive my old times with her. Maybe a penta? So i got into a game And fed 2/7/2 At first I thought it was because I was rusty, so i got into another and another and another and another. I was sensing a pattern at this point. I didn't remember being this bad, so i decided to look into it, her win rate mainly. But during this time

Her win rate was at a horrid 44%

Now a days, it's still at a 46% item 3070 Riven item 3070

And I know why

She needs...NEEDS someone to hold her hand early. If she can't get past that really hard early game, she can't do anything If she falls behind a tad, she can't do anything If she is out tanked/sustained/ranged/damaged She can't do anything The only scenario in which she can win right now, is against assassin top laners (i.e. Yasuo, Akali) and even then it's a hard start

What i suggest, is making her early game easier Or something to fall back on if she falls behind Riot made a champion, that has a rocky early game, and is only relevant to her team if she's fed. I really want my Riven back at a good position, so if any of you have any ideas as to fix her/rework her/ buff her, leave a comment

Just anything to bring her back to a good spot. Thanks for reading

Riven is shit no matter what this bronzies around here try to tell you, but hey the new assasin item will make her broken again, just wait a bit. ( the new item will probably push her more than she needs it but whatever, she was quiet shit for a while so thats okay) And no, she is NOT fine, but hey riot already stated they are looking for opportunities to buff her in the near future and tada, we get an overpowered new item. Like honestly, every riven main in high elo except a few people who constantly feed with her after the ult cd nerf stopped playing her, A LOT of people already dropped her for the nerf BEFORE the latest nerf because she was shit. RIot made it happen to nerf her before the preseason in which she got kicked in the ballz with itemization changes as well. She got a double nerf even though she was weak in the first place, they made a mistake and admitted it. So, just wait a bit, they are working on a fix.

Riven is fine. Current meta just doesn't favor her cause the favorite picks are stuff that shits on her. When meta shifts she will come back.

In the meantime, we have plenty of shorter range squishy stuff going mid right now. Try her there. I imagine she could find some sucess there. Or to a lesser extent jg.

As long as Riven remains a free cost, high mobility champion, she's fine. Her early game is honestly where she flourishes because of level 2 cheese. I've seen her wreck just about anything besides Garen. Also, 40% win rate to 55% is balanced in my opinion, because that means 40-55 out of every 100 Riven players win their matches.

This has already been said but this is true. Riven is not weak as a champion she is just weak in this meta. She doesn't need buffs, she doesn't need nerfs. Just wait for the meta to change out of tank meta and BOOM Riven is good again.
