League of Snowball: The Game that feels frustrating

So just a headsup, this is going to be a slight rant, slight question.

So Im at the very bottom of silver 5. Im not diamond or challenger or anything. Im not going to make the claim that I deserve to be in those ranks. I realize the limitations of my skill. However, speaking my own personal experience in the lower divisions, the game seems somewhat broke to me.

Let me start by saying that Ive been playing league for a while. While Im not great by any stretch of the imagination, I felt at least fairly competant in the games mechanics, atleast enough to consistently get to silver. When the preseason to 6 started, I wanted to really push to see if I could make gold this time around. I did my homework, read guides, watch pros, tried to figure out what would be the best way to see if I could reach gold.

Placements come and I place in bronze 3, some due to mistakes on my own part, but some due to janky games. I worked hard and got myself up to the top of s4 after sometime. I was winning more than losing. Then 6.1 or 6.2 pops out and that goes 100% in the opposite direction. Now Im losing most of my matches, and my rank is dropping rapidly. This is incredibly frustrating to someone whos goals were to hit gold, and who up till then had a + win/loss ratio, and seemed to be making good progress.

The state of the game at lower brackts seems to be a one sided snowball shit show. Most games played are either complete domination, or completely dominated. I am seeing a perceived trend that if one lane loses hard, the game is pretty much over. Im seeing games where one bad dragon team fight at 15 minutes can cost 3 turrets and an inhibitor. Ive seen games were one side may have a good lead, and completely lose to (again) a bad team fight. And when youre losing more than winning, and youre losing after starting to get confidence that you may actually make your way to gold, its frustrating as fuck.

It was not until a few days ago that I really started to question the state of the game. Because it was after one game that I was so damn angry, that it made me think about the game. I like challenges, I like testing my skills against other people. But after all this, now Im feeling more and more like Ive been cheated in some way.

It's not to say that Ive played every game perfectly. I havent. Ive had completely shit games. But the games where I am finding the most satisfaction isnt the one sided stomps (even if my team wins), its the games that go for 45 minutes, where the scores are damn close. Those are games I, and I feel many other people, walk away from satisfied. Sure, in longer games, a throw can cost the game, but I feel that many people dont mind it as much because it was 'close'. In the 20 minute shit shows, its not fun, its just frustrating, and one team typically knows they are going to lose the game by then unless someone fucks up royally.

I think since the start of s6, the game has gotten to a snowbally shit show that discourages players at lower brackets. Im wondering if Im just an isolated case. A case of 'get good, scrub' kind of shite. I cant speak (and wont) for the state of the game at higher tiers, but in Bronze/Silver, I feel the game is actually in a terrible position, and Im wondering if anyone else in those tiers are feeling the same way?

Maybe its some kind of misplaced nostalgia, but the game seemed to be funner in earlier seasons, even if matches went on longer, because they were better quality matches (though not to say there werent issues: there were issues then, but not like now). And that I felt that Riot had done a fairly good job at making the game good for all lvls of play, not just top levels of play. It seems or feels a lot like that theyre just solely focused on top end play now, and its making lower tiers a goddamn nightmare.

Ok thats enough for now.

Eh, kinda have to end the game quick and not make any mistakes if your enemies attempt to turtle up. It's alright with few friends.
