PSA: If the area has a pink ward...please do not destroy the enemies regular wards!

Namîste·10/26/2018, 3:27:51 AM·36 votes·14,257 views

I see this so much and I"m assuming people don't know? I hope? But please do not hit an enemies regular ward if someone pinks the area (like dragon or baron)...if gives the enemy vision when you attack their ward...where as if you leave it...the area is completely dark for them

[slayer-jinx-wink]

Wanted to add: For objective taking don't destroy them!

Two exceptions:

  1. If their ward is about to expire and/or you can afford to show your position, you get free gold.
  2. If the enemy is in a position to take your control ward then their wards will reactivate, and killing them might be a strong option.

Otherwise this is good advice!

I really didn't know that! Thanks for the tip, I'll leave it from now on!

Heads up for a helpful thread on this discussion! ❤

Yeah it's a good idea to keep those wards alive so the top laner can tp and 5 man gang you instead of 4 man

And you didn't need that S rank anyways

IDK man, it irks me when people walk past an enemies deep pink ward and leave it... IMO letting them have free vision is not good for business

I disagree with this as a general rule.

There are times when this is the ideal strategy, but there are also times where this is foolishness. Even beyond the two exceptions given by Djinn.

If you place a pink ward, and it's close enough to deactivate an enemy's ward, they will see it's placement on the map briefly before their vision goes out (provided the pink isn't in a bush nearby). So keeping their ward alive is irrelevant unless you are actively killing the dragon/baron they had warded. Otherwise, killing their ward grants you XP and gold. If you don't kill it, they'll eventually come to the area to clear your pink and their ward could still be active, which means they don't have to blow another ward to replace it.

In the same vein, don't kill Illaoi's tentacles if a nearby ally is marked by her E (or if you are). It just makes it so that more tentacles spawn and slam down. Alternatively, wait around the tentacle and kill it after the debuff wears off. A tentacle won't slam down on a marked ally more than once per curse/spawn.

It's really annoying when I'm playing ARAM or waiting for a teamfight in 5's, then get marked by Illaoi (or an ally gets marked) and my allies kill the tentacles immediately after they spawn and slam, so that I have more chances to get slammed by them :/

Generally, the team going for a huge objective like baron or elder dragon will have either aced the enemy team or at least the carries + jg. If you keep that ward alive, it allows that team to get a TP in. Sure, it's case by case but when doing vision control before said objectives, I'll drop 1 or 2 wards deeper into the enemy jg and then clear wards in the respective pits.

but but they give gold if i leave it i lose farm & vision score qq..

seriously don't pls, even if the sp/jg has temporarily disabled it with lens

yet tbh it is the better option compared to taking objs without unwarding at all.. which is usually the case.. xd

They dont... and you can say this during the game but theses retards will still destroy it and showing we're doing baron [sg-shisa]

It's been, what? Almost 2 years now? People don't know how control wards work and think they're just reskinned pink wards. The amount of people I've had drop pink wards in the middle of the lane when I'm playing Shaco thinking it will reveal me just leaves me disappointed.

1 more reason to not kill a ward. Enemy team sees the red, but didnt think of them doing the objective. So one person goes to take the red while the others are off guard.

I destroy it usually to avoid TPs to said ward. (Yes you can do that.)

Trias00010/26/2018, 9:38:52 PM1 votes

I don't understand why it's made like that though.

CleverCactus10/26/2018, 10:02:41 PM1 votes

The way this works should be changed I think. Wards shouldn't give more vision while disabled, ever. There's also no resource in-game or anywhere explaining this interaction, besides your own knowledge of the game.
