Your Real Rank

Look at your MMR. If you are at bronze level MMR, you are in bronze. If you are in Silver MMR, your rank is Silver. If you are at Gold MMR, you are in gold, etc... play a few games and whatever MMR you have is your ACTUAL rank. (The "ranks" and "divisions" people get placed in are superfluous because you don't even play against people in your division to rank up.) If you disagree:

If you are in gold and you're playing against plats, you belong in plat. That's a fact. That is your actual skill level. It is your RANK. That is what RANKED means, to judge your skill level. The ranks people get put into are safety gates and not actual ranks.

Don't use this logic in challenger. In challenger you have nobody higher than your rank so you are matched with lower ranked players.

I'd suggest that your rank/mmr after 100+ games to be slightly more precise. People fresh off the ranked reset may have an MMR somewhat lower than their actual skill level, and this is legitimate rather than the 1k+ games bronze players 'held back by their teams but actually totally plat' situations.
