@Riot: Concerning Heimer's Passive

I recently made a thread concerning Heimerdinger, showing suggestions on how to improve him. It can be found here: http://boards.na.leagueoflegends.com/en/c/gameplay-balance/M7647yY5-riot-balancing-heimerdinger

While my first suggestion concerning his change in turrets didn't turn out well, I believe there was an overall agreement towards my second idea in changing his passive.

As a refresher, the current passive on Heimer is a healing aura towards his turrets and ally champions. The passive's main draw and power was originally meant to be a healing agent for his team's towers, but that was removed altogether with his rework.

Strangely, it's not been changed since that rework (except for making Heimer have a silly-high amount of base HP regen, recently, with the health regen changes). It's been officially stated by Riot that they want to cut back on invisible power, like passive auras (look at Sona's remake for direct reference). Heimer's current passive is actually invisible, completely. So ... why is this ignored? It's the exact definition of invisible power that RIot wants to change.

The idea I suggested was to change that invisible healing aura into a shield that his turrets have. They would behave just like the shield on the 2nd tier towers in Summoner's Rift, meaning it would share the shield with those who come close to it. It would then deteriorate when Heimer or the allies leave its range.

Each of the 3 turrets' shield strength would be around 1/3 in power when compared to the 2nd tier tower's shield. When all 3 are together and in range of Heimer and/or his allies, they steadily gain each of the turrets' shield amount making a shield comparable to 2nd tier tower's.

Here's the cliff notes:

  • The current philosophy of the passive will be kept while taking away all the invisible power. It would also honor its origin by being related to towers by branching off of what the 2nd tier towers can now do. Heimer should keeps with the times and breakthroughs!

  • The change would give the turrets a little more much-needed protection.

  • Teammates would be encouraged to stay near Heimer's turrets, which is where he wants teamfights to actually take place. Some teams outright ignore his turrets, currently, effectively killing a lot of Heimer's presence in teamfights (unless its at Dragon or Baron where people are forced to stay in that area, anyway), and this would help alleviate this issue.

  • Finally, this would give more reason for a Heimer to stay with his team as well, by providing visible power from his presence. Currently his passive is so invisible when concerning his teammates, it's as if his presence around them does nothing. This (as well as his team actively taking fights away from his turrets) promotes Heimer to be a split pusher, staying away from teamfights. I personally don't think that's something Heimer should be prioritizing.

I just want him to have another passive... anything will do... to a degree.
