Lack of key fragments...

I'm just trying to figure out if I'm getting terrible luck or if anyone else is having the same experience with key fragments that I am... Now sometime during s7 I took like a 5-6 month break and before that break the honor system hadn't been put into place yet and we would have a chance at receiving keys for games that we won... Now no matter what I would always get enough keys to open my 4 monthly chests... Since I've been back for maybe 2 months now I've noticed that the winning games no longer grants you key fragments but instead the honor system randomly gives anywhere from 2-4 majority of the time being 2.... Now I've never been one to get salty in game or been on chat restrictions or any of the sort and frequently get honors but in the short time that I've been back I've accumulated 3 extra chests with no keys to open them unless I by the keys.... Am I the only one experiencing this shortage of keys and over abundance of useless chests???

Riot jipped people on keys. You're not the only one.

Keys and key fragments are rarer, honour capsules are almost non-existent and give next to nothing, opening loot boxes gives significantly worse rewards than it used to, and skin shards have next to no value so you need at least 5-6 of them to unlock any skin at all. Its... weird. To my knowledge you only get keys by playing games (well obv) but before it was random with a really high chance early in the month and then shortening out.

NOW with the honor system it is more of "hey you have played x games and were honorable, heres a key frag." And since I feel like i permanently earned my starting amount (similar to the old system) its like every 10 games the next day i will have 1 key frag. And its only ever one. I havent opened a box since the start of preseason im pretty sure. I get most of my keys from honor capsules tbh. I always get 2 of them... then again i have gotten 3 since i the honor system started. And i as honor 5 within a month... idk.

TBH with all of the events, and missions, and champion capsules, and etc we have now it wouldnt surprise me if riot just toned the fuck down the droprate of keys.

Im not saying i want more shit. I just want to feel like im getting it at all.

I have 10 key fragements and 0 chests.

And i have already earned chest on pretty much all the champs i play, which are well over 30 ;_;

My chest backlog has slowly but surely been diminishing since they switched to being linked to honour, rather than accumulating (and I get my free mastery chest every week). I had ~4 chests when honour came out, down to 2/3 depending on when in the cycle you look.

Key fragment drops are tied to games played and show up randomly as long as you're 2+ honour, so theres less instant gratification to binge play and get all your monthly fragments in a week of power playing, and you don't really know if you need to play more in order to cap out. I suspect some people end up playing less as a result, and so get less keys.

If you're honour 3+ you'll occasionally get a capsule instead, which counts as one fragment drop but contains 2+, so in the long run the most diligent players are going to have a key surplus even if they get every mastery chest possible.

On top of that, various events have offered key fragments as an option as a reward, so thats even more key potential.

I'll probably know how the hard one tricks feel with their mountain of keys and no way to get chests to use them on by the end of the year.

I kinda have 5 keys...

The trick is kinda to not play for a day or 2 (or more if you manage to) and just log in and I got key fragments. XD

It's wierd couse I have 33 keys. I get key shard almost every day. Maybe you should play more for team and they will give you more honors. More honors = more key shards.[poppy-wink]
