Hello guys, I'm Flamer Lord, working on improving the game as best I can and make League of Legends the best possible experience for each and everyone of us. I've already posted a thread about de-randomizing Critical Chance, which you can find here.

#Today I'll be talking about Pings and why we should be able to mute them ######AND BY MUTE THEM I MEAN A SPECIFIC PLAYER, INCLUDING THE IMAGE (NOT JUST THE SOUND)

We've all played with toxic players, we know how irritating they can be. Insulting, threatening, griefing, etc. Well, they can also ping you excessively and there's nothing you can do about it. Even if you mute them, which is a good start, you will still hear their pings trying to tilt you. So we've got reason number 1.

  • Pings can be used by toxic players as a way to harass.

Then, there is also the player trying to play for you.

The only thing he does in his game is trying to tell you what to do and what not to do, but he seems not knowing it well for himself; he is most of the time having not doing so well. I believe muting his chat sounds excessive, because he isn't technically harassing, but muting his pings can save you from a bad experience. Reason number 2:

  • Some players are trying to play for you. That can be extremely annoying.

Finally, there is that game when you know you're going to tilt and just don't want to hear your team trigger you. But hey, you can't mute pings right now, so if you're sightly irritated and about to reach oblivion, then that can be the thing to make you explode. I know what I'm sayin boiz, I'm el Flamer Lord after all. Reason number 3:

  • Sometimes, you just dont want to hear pings, at all.

Feel free to comment and give your opinion below.

##Thanks for reading.

A dude named Flamer Lord is trying to make our League experience better...

I'm suspicious.

Teammate gets ganked by the enemy I probably pinged or said mia about 20 seconds ago

Suddenly

? ? ? ? ? ?

Gets spammed on top of my lane for the next 5 minutes straight.

A mute button for emote spam would be nice too. Nothing like lux/lulu/annie supports with nothing better to to do than spam their laugh button.

Most MOBA have it.

  • Mute a specific person's ping.
  • Reporting someone automatically adds the person to your block list.

You can already mute pings. Do you mean, make them unable to be seen as well?

There should be a separate button next to the normal mute button to mute pings. So you can mute the player and if he starts spamming pings afterwards, you can mute his pings aswell. Or just mute someone's pings who is not using chat and is spamming.

You sir are brilliant. I just want a way to mute one ONE persons annoying pinging. If they know you already muted them then they ping you to death it ruins the game. I end up instead trying to figure out how to remove fingers from them so they can't ping me rather then how I can and will help my team win. [slayer-jinx-catface]

"Sometimes, you just dont want to hear pings, at all." That's why you can mute every single ping [slayer-pantheon-thumbs]

A great idea!

You can expect this to be implemented at the same time as replays.... Soon (tm)

Nice post

Oh Meh Gerd!!! How can you be so smart? How is this logical. NO way. This must be a evil plan. But it sounds really good T_T.

(foreword: in favour of player specific ping muting. volume doesn't cut it, I may wanna hear what other teammates have to say with non-spammed pings)

PLEASE. PLEASE. PLEASE. PLEASE. PLEASE DO THIS. Do exactly this. DO THIS. Do what this guy is saying and do not ever stop doing it.

Forget lunch. Forget the mopping. Forget payroll.

This.

Do this. Add the ping mute.

Do not ask why, do not refute us, do not tell us it is not necessary. If we choose to mute (players or pings), we take on the consequences willingly.

Trust us. It is exactly worth the loss of coordination, and yet worth losing even so much more for just sweet seconds of bliss, if the case is so.

I cannot express how depressing I find it that 2016 is about roll off the calendars and we still cannot mute pings. Maybe it's in the boat with the Sandbox issue.

I don't need a single god damn reason other than that it's an option that should be available. People will use it to troll?

WE WOULDN'T WANT ANY TROLLS ON LEAGUE OF GOD DAMN LEGENDS, WOULD WE?

THAT NEVER HAPPENS.

Can we mute other champions voices as well, besides our own?

Erysch5/5/2017, 5:06:44 PM1 votes

Totally agreeing !!!!

JRobin319/8/2016, 5:54:45 AM1 votes

I agree that pings should be mutable because I agree that pings can be annoying but I disagree that it is "toxic". Don't throw that term around carelessly. Now receive my up vote.

I'd say have two options. Mute pings and mute excessive pings. The first stops all visual pings, the second prevents you from reciveing pings from the same player within a 1 minute window. There are games where you have a troll but he then realizes its not works and they just play. I'd say having both would allow for players to make the choice of "its annoying but not THAT annoying"

Pale Pirate9/7/2016, 4:58:40 PM1 votes

I don't have trust that people will use it correctly. Sometimes I ping frantically but it is because my enemy mid is roaming or because I have noticed enemy movements which someone else hasn't. I would hate to get muted because people don't get why I'm pinging.

Also there is the communication problem. Imagine we create a plan through pings. The whole team could go in disarray if one person has pings muted. This is the exact same reason why mic communication is not enabled.

Solidarius9/8/2016, 5:51:25 PM1 votes

I play with music so I cant "hear" pings.

Where do you see the pings?

Chatillon9/8/2016, 9:16:05 PM1 votes

There should be one near a player though, because i like the sounds, but I dont want to hear kayle ping missing or see it at all bc it doesnt matter...
