Guide to freelo: AP shaco

I've been playing AP shaco for a while now and honesty he's so disgusting, at least so far in gold. I've played a lot of AD shaco games before (600+) even in diamonds but AP is the way to go right now and it's gross.

Get the cdr reduction mastery, thunderlords mastery, and ignite. Build mobi boots, runic echo, hextech gunblade. Then work on void staff when the enemies start to get MR. Sometimes lichbane if it's appropriate.

This wasn't viable before because of the build path of hextech, but ever since the new passive on the hextech revolver, the build path is no longer an issue. The deceive auto will do so much damage with the revolver.

Check the enemy items constantly and find out who has low MR. 100-0 most squishies just by using auto-hextech-E, in whatever order. That pops thunderlords.

Or, just hextech-E-ignite from afar to kill an adc or some squishy once you get snowballing. That will make the enemy go back to base, burn summoners spells, etc. because the combo comes out instantaneously. There's no counterplay because the enemy can't react. You can walk away if that doesn't kill because the enemy will be too low hp to fight. If the enemy stays in lane or lingers around, go back in twice, three times to throw E and they'll base.

Just before teamfights, if you just deceive in, then throw E (save hextech for teamfights), it'll hit so hard that the enemy will be scared to even teamfight.

Jungle clear isn't too slow either if you use the right runes and masteries. The shaco box and E will do enough damage to help clear jungle on time.

More people should abuse this before the invisibility changes.

Also, I see a lot of shaco players in gold trying to golem, then red buff.

NO. Shaco does red buff first (stack 4 boxes behind the big red guy) and gank level 2 before the midlane even hits level 2. Burn summoners 100%. Possibly first blood. Golems just slow you down.

Thanks, I'll play some shaco now. So what's the clear route, any tips?

After red then mid gank. You have enough mana to either gank mid again to secure a kill or clear your blue. You can do the river crab before blue. Then after getting blue using both pots, gank the side lane.

Your enemy jungler timing is this: When you gank mid = jungler clears first buff. When you gank after your blue = enemy jungler clears second buff.

When you gank, Q in always over walls to avoid wards, then place the box first where the enemy will flash to. Don't bother ganking champions like renekton. Resort to ganking bot lane if you can't gank top or mid because bot is harder to secure a kill.

Essentially, you want the enemy team to be paranoid. Gank as many times as necessary to break them.

Thanks. Also what about Counter Jungling?

You can counterjungle after red if the enemy jungler is on the same side. The jungler should be almost finishing the first buff. It's a bit risky imo because junglers these days are like lee sin or elise. Also, supports often ward the river in the beginning of the game. If you gank mid after red, nobody sees you. Basically there's no reason to risk being spotted and failing counterjungling when you can just gank mid and burn summoners for free.

Maybe as a 5th item, but games usually end before you finish your 3rd or 4th. You have to constantly gank and impair the enemies (whether wasting pots, making them buy wards, burn summoners, etc.) to close the game early or at least put it in your team's favor.

I often rush mobi boots before I even buy the second piece of the jungle item because you absolutely have to land a successful gank early.

AP Shaco was strong back when runeglaive existed as it remedied his biggest weakness: waveclear (and gave more burst as a bonus).

So, because of no waveclear, if you don't snowball, you're useless... Can't even fall back to splitpushing, just hope to grab some kills on low health enemies with your dagger.

I used to think the same. I tried building statik before/after hextech to see if I can switch over to splitpushing mid game. It works better to just stick to AP and snowball out of control.

It's hard not to snowball because you are always ahead relative to the enemy jungler. By the time I do my second gank, the enemy just finishes his second buff. After I gank twice, the enemy jungler will feel the need to gank after his second buff, which is going to be around where he gets his second buff. Meanwhile I am heading to the opposite side of the map for another gank, then clear river crabs and take vision, etc. The enemy has to give up something major and countergank, which is tough to swallow and never done.

You gank the easiest lane. For example, check the enemy mid summoner spells. If they have barrier, that lowers your chance of getting first blood.
