Garen's Identity

Garen seems to have a bit of a split identity. His thematics and voice lines make him out to be a fighter who always leads the charge and never backs down from a fight. Yet his gameplay pushes him more towards gurrellia warfare. Popping out brush for hit and run tactics. Dealing what damage he can before running away to heal up and then fight on full health while his opponents are hurt. This creates an odd juxtaposition, kinda like when Sion ults away from a fight but is shouting Cowards!!!!! at the top of his lungs.

If Garen is ever updated this is something that should be fixed. He needs to be either pushed towards being the fighter that leads the charge and rallies his team to him, or he needs to be pushed more towards the commando hit and run style. Hiding in bushes and around corners, ready to jump on you, trade and then dissappear into the fog, healing to full before the next fight.

If Garen were to be pushed towards being constantly in the thick of it, his passive is the first thing that would need to be changed. Give him a passive that rewards him for being in the fray, similar to Darius. Something Garen could do within a fight to either regen health or to gain a sheild.

If Garen were to be pushed more towards being more commando like then he would probably need a better gapcloser/escape. He would also probably need to lose the True damage Villian passive to be more effective against anyone he might meet.

These were just some thoughts of mine on a character that I used to really enjoy playing but find a little underwhelming at the present. If you have any ideas or criticisms I would love to hear them.

Riot themselves have said that Garen is supposed to be (Operative word being "supposed") the polar opposite of Darius. What that means, I don't know, because I've never learned if we've ever gotten any REAL clarification.

He does need some changes to his gameplay, he is a little underwhelming for what he's supposed to represent. According to lore, he's supposed to be the poster-boy for Demacia's staunch, unyielding march for Justice and all they represent. So why doesn't his game-play more accurately reflect this vision/ideology for him?
