To all you meta men..

Back in the glory days when i started league (season 2 sometime) no body played jungle. There were no smart pings, people called "mia" and "re" and you played whatever champion you wanted wherever you thought they would be VIABLE. League has changed a lot since then, but good golly doesn't it just push my buttons when the meta men tell me where i can and can't play a champion. Brand APC (yes i know what's an APC the meta men say, well what if i told you that more than Jinx and Vayne can play in the bottom lane :O) is very viable. He has good poke and a powerful stun and his ult has a bigger presence pre team-fight stages of the game. I had a premade duo the other day, lux as support and me playing Fizz bottom (yes i know how can Fizz possibly play bottom, he's out ranged and yada yada) and our mid Teemo said "gg bot rip" before the game even started. With a support with a stun to lock down an adc, fizz has very high bottom lane potential dealing insane burst damage and an easy escape tool (Blitzcrank item 3070 ) wound up carrying and getting a pentakill that game. My one friend frequents top lane Leona and often gets trash about it, but always does incredible. Anyways, the point of this post isn't to brag, it's just y'all need to calm your jimmies when you see someone play out of meta. It's not necessarily a bad thing. Even without an "adc" teams still win. Take for example a game i played bot lane against a XinZhao and JarvanIV they absolutely wrecked us. The early game turret dive potential and single target lock-down was ridiculous. So don't be so damn hostile because someone breaks your precious meta, because for all you know they could be the next "meta" or "FoTM" champ. Also, never "gg ez" u butt-nuggets.

80% AP ratio on the net. A higher trap AP ratio than Teemo. Incoming buffs to her traps. AP Caitlyn: coming soon to an Abyss near you.

Other things can work...but (dont get all preachy and high horsey just yet, read the whole thing) There is a very real and legitimate problem with going too far outside of the norm, especially in a ranked Q. Believe it or not, i am not going to bother talking about what works and what doesnt because it has very little to with it.

You may have practiced something new and different, or not even new just really really different.** But the rest of your team has no clue how to play your strategy, or adjust to your outside the box pick.**

They dont know what to do...they dont know the strengths, weaknesses...or match specific counter play...it even throws people for a loop when team fighting...and lord knows team fighting below Diamond 3 is just a hot mess to begin with...now add confusion as to what they are "supposed" to do, who to peel for, what to engage on..etc...i mean, dude you just #Rekt their world and everything they think they know about league.

I still get Warning pinged away from laners farm when its dying under tower and they are dead or at fountain FFS!!!!! They cant handle what youre doing, so you need to learn to be patient and understanding while you are soap box lobbying for your new strats.

IsmokeOregano1 votes

aww see but its not new strats, its old as dirt. So old most people thinks its inconceivable, and while we do good to communicate with the team a lot of kids just so bull-headed they instantly think you're a troll and start being dicks. And im not trying to be some LCS #BIGFLA$HYPLAY$ dude, im just playing normals, i just wish the community could broaden the horizons becuase seeing jinx and vayne EVERY SINGLE GAME gets boring as hell

StealthWarden1 votes

i started playing at the end of last season...if you pulled out that season 2 strat, itd be all new to me man, So "old as dirt" as it may be, I wouldnt know anything about it and if i had to lane with you id be really nervous and unsure of how to play the lane, when to be aggressive, or even IF we can every go all in without jungle assistance. So yeah, i mean, I hear you...but dont be like the people you are describing and refuse to see any point of view but your own.

well i dont go off the wall random with people i dont know, i always have a duo laner i can trust, otherwise yea how the hell could my support know?? im saying when the mid lane starts talking shit and then does butt before team-fight phase and still has audacity to talk trash. I uploaded pics, just looks at all the wins fizz bottom. i couldnt expect to pull it off with someone i dont know, i just hate when the kids who have nothing to do with my lane dump the idea before the game even starts..

StealthWarden1 votes

well....people like that are going to rage at everything, and if you went jinx, leo bot lane they would have raged at the jungler for not ganking enough or leo for not roaming mid...and if leo roamed mid and they didnt engage (likely scenario with whiney little pricks like this) they would blame leo for roaming...basically the only reason they ever lose is everybody else..they will never go anywhere but down, so forget those jerks.

another question, is this all in normal Q? i looked up your account on op.gg and it only shows 2 ranked matches

IsmokeOregano1 votes

yea man i played a wee bit of ranked with a friend who i coached and was fresh level 30, way too much salt and people getting uber pissed at the smallest mistakes. i said to teemo with all that nonsense and just play normal queue now... even though i get constant salt over being bronze 5 xD i think its funnier that way anyways

StealthWarden2 votes

well then honestly, if anyone is being pissy in normal Q, they are likely chat banned in ranked, lol! forget those buttwads...its literally a ZERO stakes match, and personally i do team builder and click any any any for all the other spots, because im there for 1 of 2 things. practice my champion which has nothing to do with my team or have fun playing what i want where i want which again has nothing to do with my team...anyone who gets salt over a normal game is either a scrub or a ultra rager and auto mute should be a feature. :P

IsmokeOregano1 votes

Exactly! but i literally get salt from at least one person 80% of the games i play haha

Truth all of it, but if you can't handle your own teammate, someone you can communicate with through several methods, being something unfamiliar then you absolutely can't handle your enemy being something unfamiliar... So i say its still a good thing to play with someone who goes outside the meta, as long as they are comfortable with their pick (and by that i mean they are good...). I agree with what you are saying, but its not a good reason for people to hate off-meta picks, if you can't adapt to the game then you are playing it wrong.

StealthWarden1 votes

So how am i supposed to respond when they counter pick themselves and tell me its going to be alright they do this all the time. Ok check op.gg to verify, but you know beyond doubt that their enemy laner (if they dont completely blow) should just win without trying too hard because its a hard counter...having blind faith in people is rough. That is essentially what you are asking people to do. On top of that, how many other people have they encountered along the way that said trust me i do this all time, and turns out they are the worst "champion" NA and will go down in infamy for how bad they are, before you came along asking for trust?

I mean, i have hard time convincing people that its ok if i play Shaco jungle with 37 games and 67% win rate...the last time i had a problem i still hat a 71% win rate, and i said its all good guys, check my op.gg 70% win rate over 30 games..."win rate means nothing" thats the response i got, lol!

if you can't adapt to the game then you are playing it wrong.

TSM is doing it wrong...but they are getting rich while they do it. However...the statement is completely and utterly incorrect. How would you master a champion? You would first learn and practice everything their kit can do and then learn all the matchups (most common matchups) and you can say you have "mastered" a champion. So according to you, if someone is able to throw you off with a matchup you have never played on a champion you mastered and cant adapt in a single game "im doing it wrong" That is by far the most short sighted and least thought out statement ive heard in months. It is wholly incorrect. We have had to work very hard to learn how to play our champions, and what to do when x "semi expected" champion appears and it took us a very long time, to say that the 1 off will never see again ever pick shows up and we cant adapt in time to win it, that we are simply "doing it wrong" is absurd.

To clarify, im not against off-meta anything. In fact sometimes i use it as a tactic to pull out a clutch win in a series, because it throws people off. I just feel like the soap box "break the meta" speech is lacking in understanding and sympathy towards the other side of the argument and do with a little more of the two.

Uh then you didnt master the champion... Adapting to all situations is part of mastery... learning what they can do is only one part of mastering a champion, like the beginning part...you also need to know how to effectively use what you know, thats where true mastery comes in. Adapting to a situation is part of how you show that. Saying that "I mastered this champion but you did something unexpected so thats why i lost" is a stupid statement, thats no excuse you should have been able to change your strategy.

Btw im not saying to always trust everything always, but you do not know what can work and wont work if you never try. If you never play an off-meta pick then you will never know what actually works. Thats why following the meta is kind of stupid... yea adc/supp bot, AP/assassin mid, Tank/bruiser/fighter top, and Jungle is a good solid team comp but there are more possibilities then just that and following the meta always is short sighted and stubborn.
