Find Match - Minimum Connection Criteria

Here's the problem many have voiced that once you click 'FIND MATCH', the SERVER matches 5 versus 5 players and tosses all into 'CHAMPION SELECTION' screen. All's well, right? WRONG!

Lately, more often than not, players argue about roles, positions, champions, and that's just the tip of the problem.

The larger issue is 'CONNECTION' where some players connection (end-user and server) are inadequate that 10 players sit in loading screen for unusually long periods, 5 to 10 minutes.

What is the solution? There are two obvious options.

  1. RIOT institutes an algorithm that informs a player BEFORE clicking 'FIND MATCH' that warns a player the connection does not meet MINIMUMS, that to actually join a PVP, they must improve the connection. Otherwise, they are free to play SOLO.
  2. RIOT institutes a MINIMUM connection that filters out player connections to PVP that preempts such long LOADING SCREEN issues.

I've been a software tester for over two decades, and in my experience, those without MINIMUM connectivity impact the overall LOAD and PLAY states, where their connection degrades the enjoyment for the community, and algorithms improve the overall community experience.

Case and point:

  • Wargaming loads everyone into the game, and those with connection issues load in late. This prevented players sitting in a queue for long periods. Late arrivals are safe at spawn while players above MINIMUMS are already out and playing.

I feel the current FIND MATCH and CHAMPION SELECTION screens are doing more harm by allowing players with inadequate connectivity to the entire community.
