Zilean changes totally drop the ball (no pun intended) thematically.

So we're just going with Zilean being a bomb mage? Worse, the second, thematically nonsensical bomb mage?

I mean, the time mage fantasy aspect of this character is barely there, and we're going to basically throw it out the window to try to crowd Zigg's space as a bomb mage?

Time control and bombs have literally nothing to do with each other. Yes, it's a "time bomb" har har har. But one of Gangplank's moves isn't pirating mp3s just because that's a pun, so I fail to see why the League's time mage has to be based entirely around bombs.

Also, Rewind is just a waste of space. There, I said it. It was barely interesting before, even less so now. It's sole purpose is to let Q and E suck less, but it doesn't feel powerful in and of itself. It's still going to be something you jam away mindlessly at, provided you have the mana.

Time control is a really rich and fertile ground for new concepts, but all they decided to go with was bombs (which have nothing to do with time control), slow/haste, and a resurrection?

This is just hugely underwhelming, from a theming standpoint.

I think they said the Zilean changes aren't supposed to be a proper rework and they have bigger plans, but more something to tide him over for the time being. You're right, he's terrible for a time mage and bombs are really boring, but if it makes the team less guilty I'm not sure what can be a damaging time-related ability.

In any case he's still poor thematically but at least has better gameplay. New bombs are cool compared to old bombs which were terrible.
