Nerf AP. It's time. Part 2: electric boogaloo

Riot saw fit to delete a post that invited discussion and criticism of their favorite mains.

Now lets try this again.

NERF fucking AP.

The actual calculation for magic pen vs armor pen as stated in the lolwiki favors Magic pen being more damage vs per point of MR than armor vs AD. To skip the math the wiki does, here's the simplicity of it: You take more damage with the same MR, equivalent, to armor vs AD. The damn formulas are posted and done with the same variables, and the proof is in the paint.

Champions like these Diana Ryze Sylas Ryze Mordekaiser Akali Ekko and others negate the intended "skill factor" of having to hit abilities to do their damage, because obviously riot has tailored champs like these to not even require abilities to be hit, or make it really hard to fuck it up. Ap champions represent not only higher playrates as you go up, but higher winrates, higher GAINS in winrates by rank, and the players themselves, are higher rank than other types of role mains. Essentially ELO boosting by virtue of spamming mages who are of VERY little fault.

AP Items are severely overtuned, undercosted, and have CDR slapped to just about every fucking one of them, spare a couple stat sticks, or item 3165 meanwhile a majority of AD items are overcosted. NOT necessarily undertuned, but by virtue of AP champs being THAT much better in lane vs AD, makes the reward you get for your "powerspike" extremely underwhelming.

Resistances to armor are abundant. They all universally work. Maybe to a lesser degree in certain items, but the point is that when you build the item you actually see the result. Unless the AD champ is REALLY fed, or is Yasuo. <- Fuck that guy Resistances to Magic? they fucking suck, cost too much, fulfill only a NICHE fit into a certain champ (see item 3193 item 3065 literally cant be built on 90% of the champion pool. Yes, those are tank items, and thats the damn problem).

Finding ways to nerf AP as a whole goes as follows: Nerf AP itemization at the source: CDR, or the numbers around the item Nerf the actual calculation to fit more in line with AD Make a small contingent of generalist MR items, or increase effectiveness of current MR items Decrease cost of MR items Champion targeting Nerf mana scaling across the board, but compensate with MINOR QOL buffs for laning such as increased armor/per level or something that makes laning for actual mages with bad early game actually playable

without making a giant wall of text, tl;dr below

-AP calculated does more damage with the same amount of damage -You do more damage but there's no actual difference in how to achieve it -Ap items are overtuned -Ap champs are overtuned -Ap higher player representation where it matters -Nerf AP

If AP items are strong why AD champions are far more popular than AP champions?

Yeah Ziggs , Azir , Galio are tearing up the meta. Riot needs to make sure these 3 insanely OP ap abusers get the nerfs they deserve.

Riot didn't delete shit. The mods did.

And $10 says it was deleted for being a rant.

Champions like Sylas negate the intended "skill factor"

As we all know Sylas is borderline godlike with his 46% win ratio at mid and 45% at top

Pretty much this. Here's a short list of what's wrong with this post:

  • It's one big complaint.
  • It locks out discussion by accusing people who enjoy playing AP champions of being EZmode.
  • It has nothing to substantiate it. No links, no statistics.
  • It's overly broad.
  • If we accept the premise that AP items are undercosted and AD items are overcosted (which I don't), OP fails to account for lack of cooldown on AA's.

As this is not appropriate for Gameplay, I'm locking the thread.

just give up dude, people get triggered at the idea that mage items are too good in practice.
