Why you should Group in Mid & Lategame
Let me just preface this by saying that not all team group to be effective, but that most often, especially at a lower level of play (which is the vast majority of players), it helps dramatically.
Aight, so short thing to get out of my system: I recently played a game where I got quite fed on Jax. We had an Orianna that generally refused to group and solo pushed a lane constantly, and while I don't want to just spew about this, point is, the enemy was grouping as 5 and despite a lead, there was no way we could fight them 4v5 without our orianna. But no, she needed to "get objectives."
Alright, here's the first thing, peeps! Getting objectives for your team is awesome! But there's a time when you shouldn't be soloing objectives. I know this as a Jax and fighter main, since I'm used to splitpushing. It's not okay to go solo objectives if it's at the expense of your team, which is why one has to be a good judge of how well your team can fight or hold off fights without you. If you're a control mage, ADC, Support, or tank, you should be with your team at pretty much all times after 25 minutes if the enemy team is looking to push or fight. (Exceptions to the rule are people with global ults like Shen.) If you're out by yourself and the enemy team disappears, you also need to disappear and regroup with your team. I don't care if you're Warwick or Jesus Christ, you're almost never going to solo vs. 5 successfully.
So anyways, back to the short story, her side pushing cost us mutliple towers and two inhibs after a little while of her continuing to be belligerent. In hindsight, my pleading to group was edging on flaming (I know I flamed a bit after the game, but I was very frustrated and I didn't cuss her out. I simply told her that she needed to group with us more. What can I say? I was frustrated and kinda regret it.). Now everyone has games like this, and not all of us can keep our cool 24/7.
So point two is don't flame eachother. It just aggravates the situation. And I think there's enough posts on this anyways, but I can't emphasize enough, that flaming will lose you progress. Too many games have been lost due to a player not wanting to play any longer due to another player or multiple players flaming them for something they did wrong.
This is a TEAM GAME that means you need to work with your team. Objectives are called what they are because they are important, but your team is also an objective. If they all die because you decided to split and especially in situations where many enemies are low and you know you could've made a difference, then that's on you. Splitting is fine, but do it with caution, and when your team asks you to group so they can fight, just do it. Don't make a big deal about it. Everyone wants to win as much as you do, so respect each other, you might just make a comeback in that game you thought you lost.
