I really enjoy both.
Jayce is better on his own than varus. Varus has better poke. Jayce has more kill potential in lane. Varus has a better late game.
Im the long range type, i play Vel'koz and Xerath. I would like to only insert one of them in my pool.
But im so 50/50, i need your help guys.
Depends on if your backup is ADC or Top, though Varus can also go AP and pull of some crazy burst

how about neither mid? That's a dick move
Jace with his powerslam/ball toss is perfect for mid lane with champs with low mobility like anivia, annie, or veigar. IT will out range most of the mid champs and make them waste flash early if they need to desperately escape.
Varus has good damage, but I'd not recommend him cause he is squishier then lux. His one ability to pull back and shot farther is the one ability i think that works well with his Gregorius wounds puddle.
I'd recommend Jace
Varus is trash, Jayce better.
