New player needs some advice on shotcalling and making the correct plays

Hello,

I started playing LoL 2 days ago. I just had a match which completely confused me. This isn't my first MOBA, so I am not completely awful.

Last match I was playing Kog'Maw at the middle lane and was against a Draven. I was pressuring Draven and the moment I was about to finish him off Ekko came out of the forest and almost killed me, but left the kill for Draven. During the laning phase I continued to pressure him, but the Renekton (top) and Ekko kept attacking me so Draven could finish me off. I managed to keep up and grab a couple of kills. During the match I got plenty of kills on the enemy and once we had the inhibitor down we recalled. We killed Baron Nashor and I proceeded to kill two enemies. I told my team to support me and move as a team, but they refused. They insisted that getting the other inhibitors down was more important than my plan of ending the match. I kept trying to convince them, but to no avail.

What was the correct thing to do? Listen to them or convincing them to do it my way? I really need some advice on this.

Getting the inhibitors down is the safer way of ending the match. While your plan could have probably worked, if the enemies come back to life before you guys can end your team will all die and you'll lose a ton of your base and possibly the game for it. Doesn't seem like they wanted to chance it.

No matter what you guys pick it's better to do it as a full team. If they're uncomfortable with rushing to end then play it slow.

Depends what the Olaf wanted to do since your team seemed inexperienced and Olaf was probably the one who would intiate fights anyway. Also, don't take smite as a mid laner.

I am interested in your statement not to take smite as a middle laner, as I consider Bloodrazor and red smite both to be incredibly potent.

It mostly comes down to the fact that ignite/barrier/exhaust are a better pick mid lane. Barrier and exhaust are usually good to help you survive divers by reducing theyr burst significantly/shielding some damage for you (which leaves them with no substantial damage) or champs like cassiopeia (which have high sustained damage once she starts her gears), while exhaust (yes, exhaust is just that good) and ignite help you fight them and kill the target, you might also want to take teleport into consideration for map pressure. Flash is mostly a mandatory summoner and shouldn't be changed (unless you like to either play full aggressive or want to pick ghost for better roams). Not having a summoner untill you can upgrade the jungle item is huge, the enemy might easily force you out of your flash in a trade or by asking for ganks, the trade off might be worth (dependng on the champ you are playing) if you manage to not fall too much behind, which is easy against less skilled opponents, but it's an high-risk to take if you're not 100% sure you can do it.

But, Bloodrazor is essentially a better version of BORK. The early summoner spell disadvantage would be hard, but the benefits you get from getting Bloodrazor over BORK outweighs it.

I did say that the trade off is worth IF you can manage not to fall too much behind. But since summoners can make such a huge difference it's a high-risk tradeoff, that's why riot didn't completely take smite away from laners (if they wanted to, they could've locked smite only on junglers by either making it only 1 smite per team or by tying it to the jungler position like they did with jungle items and smite). If you are against a passive laner, it's not a huge problem, but against an aggressive laner, lacking a summoner means you will get bullyed out of lane so much that you will fall behind to the point where you won't reach your powersike.

Probably worked against the level 11 draven, but once players get masteries and more experience playing, they can be a lot stronger early and take a strong lead. The other summoners tend to give a utility and a "oh shit" option that's not worth the trade off for an option to buy a certain item. Also, I wouldn't say blood razor is stronger than botrk. Yes, the 3% Max to 6% current is more efficient at 100% to 0% health, but botrk active is better, plus you get damage and life steal. The slightly better passive of blood razor is not enough to make it a better item for a mid laner.

U shouldnt push dowN mid to finish Unless your lead is substantial enough where u can ace the other team again. Otherwise Then u should take more inhibs and push for a bigger lead before finishing. With baron its pretty easy to take inhibs if ur already winning

Generally we haven't fought as a team during any of those fights, yet we got to that point. That inclines that the lead was substantial enough.

This is the way I see it (and I might be wrong). If you give them more time than necessary, they will have a greater chance to win. In order to secure victory, you'll have to do it the moment the oppertunity arises. And once again, I might be wrong. But it's just the way I see it.
