Riot changes to tribunal won't bring change

First things first. I DON'T DO THE TL;DR stuff. If you are too lazy to read, it sounds like a personal problem. Its a forum post read it, thanks!

A couple points I want to make are:

  1. getting Riot to understand the problem they can't wrap there minds around

  2. to aid newer people how to deal with @ssholes

  3. method(s) for all players to up the game to the next level, unless you are already there

  4. I joined in S3 ,unranked, s4, silver 3, and working my way back up . Unfortunately with programming 14 hours a day, I don't have much time to play, but I really enjoy this game, for the most part... The game is really about a few things: knowledge of the game, experience/execution, and psychology. I'm basically the "if you can't do, teach". I have helped friends get into gold a d platinum, so for the most part I think my advice / opinions can be useful.

So, from my understanding when the "initial" rule system got instated, which basically says if you complain enough regardless of the issue they will eventually take care of it, For almost 2 years now, I've read countless articles on how they want to fix the system, in my mind exists only to report bad behavior , which in reality might not be bad behavior you just might be a bad player. It's harsh but its true. The game is super complicated, especially ranked games. In current articles, dating within the last week, the fixes they want to make won't fix anything.

Before I move on to that, the "LeaverBuster" system is another fine example of crappy regulations. It doesn't prevent anything, in fact people are waiting longer in queues. People of all ranked tiers leave games time to time. The only thing Riot did here was slow down matchmaking, complete failure and waste of resources.

The problem is Riot doesn't know how to find balance. If you don't believe that , well look at Kassadin he's a fine example. Now they basically are saying we are going to hire 100s of people to look through content, and give feedback within 24 hours. Even if that was realistic which from a developers aspect is near impossible, getting results back from a database only happens once maybe twice a day. So they are telling me they are going to be able to give pretty much instant feedback on all 10,000s of pieces of data in realtime. I don't think so.

Now everyone is going to reward other players even if they don't deserve or earned it. Because we all love free items from Riot dont we.? :) At least that part has been talked about, who knows if they will implement any of it. So back to balance.

So the lesson is Riot doesn't understand balance. They understand what it is and how to encompass it in the overall picture, its why people still play the game, its balanced that way. But when it comes to champions, skins, and rules, they are lost in the dark.

Alternative to perfecting the system:

  1. treat it like a QA/testing environment. Have the people , Riot, you are hiring, train them and have them replay the parts of the games where it is happening(this SHOULD BE A REQUIREMENT) when filling out the report form. There is a lot of nasty dialog that more times than not, when read now, auto flagged, but they are completely blind to what actually happened.

The above should go into its own queue, where its filtered by priority, meaning a system that can indicate that either several people are committing the same kinds of behavior, trolling/feeding. Or someone who commits several acts over a short period of time. I.E. all team mates reported you, or majority reported you over a 3 game span.

This would be a great way to solve all the problems they have right now, they basically are saying we are going to analyze it quicker which means they get back to you quicker, but that doesn't fix anything, it just gives you comfort, in something, I guess... Like I said, its not even humanly possible to do what they want to do, or at least how they have explained it.

  1. Those @ssholes and how to deal. I think there are a couple different paths you can choose.

I don't recommend the mute command at all, especially during ranked. You have to work as a team, if you are to stand a chance of winning. And majority of the people that play this game at low elos don't understand pings for some reason , you'll lose if you don't work together. btw, the word elo and mmr drive me crazy, more details below.

What to do? The suggestion no one has suggested before

I can't understand why no one has thought of this, or at least written about it. /whisper one of your teammates, and vent the frustrations with them. They are probably just as upset about it as you are, because they have to suffer what you suffer, and its not good for the team. Have them chain it, to player 3, and have player 3 chain to last player who isnt a d*ck. Then you have 4 out of 5 people who feel the same and more importantly on the same page. Which mean the chances of you winning are much greater. If you have to die once to do it so what, you still have a high chance of winning, one death worth a win, I think so.

This all ties back into the rules though. People will leave in the game if they feel attacked or angry, because in reality there is no penalty for this. So what I have to wait 5 mins, which means you threw the game for your team completely, and the only price you pay is 5 mins. Sounds like a good deal to me , sign me up Riot, I'm in....

  1. new players on the scene This is not a "how to " guide on being new, its more of an outline of what should be required to participate in PvP. Rules that Riot should enforce to make better new players, and less frustration for everyone else.

a) I think the most important thing is observing a stream. It sounds corny, but its the trick to really improve your game , anyone's game really. You get to watch some of the top players explain what they are doing. Everything is vital about a champion, the positioning, how far your skills go, stats, and i think most importantly understanding how to build your champion. Everything is a very intense process you have to train your mind to do. The more your brain sees it the easier it becomes to replicate.

I know it works because I made my friends watch before they played, now like 6 months later they are in gold and platinum.

b) Required to win 3 consecutive or 10 wins before being able to qualify for ranked. Elo and MMR are two words I hate more than anything. In LoL, those words represent misrepresentations of how good a player actually is. I dont mean to disrespect Flaresz at all,he is a great player, but he isn't sh*t compared to a doublelift, or dyrus, certainly not bjergsen. Yet, he flexes between #1 and #2, but his win ratio, and mmr ratings of his last 10 matches are lower than doublelift's. Elo/MMR is supposedly strictly based on W/L ratio. But even if that were correct, KDA, never taken into consideration, by that logic you could be #1 and die more than the top 3 players combine and still retain #1. Its really a poor measure of skill and strength. All players should avoid looking at there ratings, especially new players.

You are forced to absorb information, and take that information and put up 10 wins, or 3 consecutive wins, then they have set up a new player to succeed at normal and ranked games. When I first played it sucked, your bad, you don't understand exactly what to do and how you should do it, because circumstances are ever changing. Can't tell you how many times I have played a ranked game, where someone doesn't have right summs on for that role, they don't build core items, or build them incorrectly, I mean just things that shouldn't ever happen in a ranked game, unless you're being trolled.

Hope you enjoyed and found this informative
