I really dislike that in a competitive game one side of the country gets an advantage over the other

I'm in California and I get a pretty consistent 100-120 ping on the live server, while people on the East Coast that I talk to play with 20-40ish. I got pbe access recently and my ping on that server is 30, making me realize how much smoother the game feels at that ping. It became so much quicker to move left and right to dodge things. Making two servers for the US would cut the playerbases in half or so, but at least the games competitive integrity would be there. I get that people can and have gotten to challenger with 100+ ping, but I still feel like in a game like this it's an anchor that shouldn't be on us. Every little movement matters and can win or lose a game, having one side of the country be significantly more responsive than the other seems wrong.

That sounds like a routing issue with your isp. Servers moved to a very central location, Chicago. You shouldn't be having ping that bad from CA. You should be more like 60-80ish

If they are like any other company, they will laugh at you probably. They don't care, they just want your money. That said, it can't hurt to try.

I have people here in the east with 100+ ping too. The servers are mid-US not east or west but as close to the center as they could get them. It's internet and computer dependent. I had 100-300 before, upgraded to a better internet and computer and now it's 29-33

I'm in california and my ping is around 50-60...where are you in California and who is your internet provider? I was in East Coast before (NY to be exact) when the servers where in CA, and my ping was 100-120. It wasn't fun but you learn to adapt and TBH I think I played better then with the high ping then I do now XD

try going to http://www.speedtest.net/ and see what your speed is. It just may be your internet speed too.

It's def not my speed, I was getting 2 mb's for awhile and when I started getting 5 mb's there was zero change in ping.

Wireless, we live rural. It's actually considered really good for this spot. I don't mind it, I don't do crazy long downloads or anything. WHen the server was in LA I was getting 20-30 ping with the 2 mb's

Ignore the ping on the Internet speed test. What is your download speed on it? Ping just shows ping on the website. Won't show ping on game.

I do ignore the ping on the speedtest. When I used to get 2mb download I had 30 ping when the server was in CA and 100 + ping when the server moved to Chicago. Now with 5 mb's download I have the same exact ping, no change at all. My ISP find it odd as well but they said they are going to mess with some things to try to get some improvements

If you're getting 2mb download you just have bad Internet it's not League. You need to get better Internet and that will solve your league problems.

Who do you have as your provider? Unless you have dialup honestly I don't think any high-speed provider will offer that low of speed.

Lol, I'm in New Orleans Louisiana, you already know there aren't any servers down around here and I have a pretty steady ~62 ping so Im not sure what to tell you, I would expect that in general the south would have worse ping because of larger distance from the servers.

Louisiana is closer ot Chicago than Ca is. My friend in Florida actually gets around 30 ping

Yeah they moved to Chicago like a year ago or two ago to help out people on the East Coast since there ping was on average 100+. I just got pbe access and the server for the pbe is in LA so when I played on 30 ping I felt the difference :(

Your issue is your Internet speed not your location. I've lived all over the country (even Hawaii) and I've never had over 100 ping.

Nah man, like I told others when I had 2 mb download speed I had 30 ping when the server was in CA and 100+ ping when the server was in Chicago. Now with 5 mb download it hasn't changed a single bit. I think it mostly has to do with my ISP

It can depend on the ISP. Riot has deals with a lot of the bigger ISPs and league has a tunnel of its own. They released a video and a blog style discussion about it. I have 50/5mb speeds at my house and consistenely play with 70-80 ping because i have a local cable company for an ISP. My office which is 2 minutes away has ATT with 20/4mb speed and my ping playing from my work computer is 20-30. It depends more on the ISP name than the speed you get from them (for some people)

Rip in pieces. Internet companies typically send you over to servers like League's in the cheapest way possible, not necessarily the most efficient. All I can say is try a program like Haste and see if internet pathing is the issue.
