How Riot looks at counter play. (not a joke thread)
Are the abilities fun for the player to use?
Are the abilities challenging and fun for the target?
If question two is no, then it gets changed and most of the time needed to be changed.

To be fair, the second rule would bring alot of relatively balanced champions into question (thats not that im saying LeBlanc is balanced).
would be a really notable example, given that its an AoE knockup, that is most certainly NOT fun to be hit by, and is usually impossible to dodge (you CAN technically do it, its just difficult due to how fast it is)

You can't look at a champion based on 1 ability, and you can also invest in an item that blocks his ult as well. Champions are rarely a problem because of an ability, it's their kit together that makes it a problem. If you based whether a champion was annoying, strong, or unfun based on an ability, then every champion is going to be annoying, strong, or unfun.
Like Nunu, his free-spell casting and infinite sustain, with snowballs for everyone, is infuriating to play against and just plain un fun.

Oh no, I agree. Im just pointing out the flaw with Rule #2, many champions have an ability that is to some extent not at all fun for the target in question. Even if said champions are relatively balanced. Rule #2 is only really correct, when the champion as a whole is a balance issue.
is another great example of having 1 ability that is absolutely absurd to play against, but he's still relatively balanced overall.

LOL which one his E or his R
LOL which one his E or his R
His R, its literally got the same problem as Xerath's old E, Veigar's old E, etc. Once he has enough AP to kill you, you can do NOTHING to him, except stay the hell away from him. (or buy Quicksilver Sash)
This is coming from a Malzahar main by the way. He's pretty balanced overall though due to easily exposing himself to ganks (because he pushes lane just to CS) and is completely immobile.
there are so many counter arguments that will destroy the second question that i highly doubt that's how they look and measure counterplay at all
