When ranked doesnt feel like it takes skill anymore?

Alright, we've seen plenty of posts about MMR, Autofill, increasing bans, blah blah blah.

And to be honest, my biggest issue after a little over a year on league is how little we actually know about LP, MMR, ranked matchmaking, and getting stuck in "Elo Hell."

For example, ranked is supposed to be where we go to showcase what we are best at, but autofill forces us into positions we do not main. I understanding needing to be good at more than two lanes in ranked. Mid and top are my mains, and I have enough experience as ADC to do well, and enough experience as a JG to do alright. But when I get thrown into support, with no mastery pages, no rune pages, and really no experience, I don't see where the "skill" is factored in.

Also, Let's look at MMR. On one hand, riot says it is invaluable in adjusting LP wins/loses. Yet we can't see our score? And Riot tells us not to trust third party sources? Is it just win/loss based? If so, that is not skill based. I cannot count the amount of matches I've ended with a 4.0 KDA, top farm, and top damage, and still lost thanks to a tilted bot lane. If this is how MMR is calculated, there needs to be a massive rework.

What about when I'm stuck in bronze, facing a gold II mid laner? When I lose 21 LP after a match like that, then gain 16 when I smash a bronze mid laner, how am I supposed to climb? I'm not in bronze because I can play with golds, I'm in bronze because I can hold my own against bronze players. (Hypothetically of course.) When I play ranked, why do I face people Riot deems so much better than myself? After all, this isn't double elimination style game play, its ladder based. So whats the point of having a ladder when it doesn't determine my opponents?

And lastly, why is people think its acceptable to play a champion for the first time in ranked? Why is it I have no option to report trolls in champ select who ban my main simply because I wont trade them for their role? Why is it when I get autofilled, I get flammed for 20 minutes even though I'm TRYING to play a role im inexperienced at.

"I play like a diamond but I'm stuck in bronze thanks to bad teammates." Uhm....No. I'm in bronze because of my own mistakes and I admit that. However, I focus on my mistakes and do my best to improve accordingly. I'm not going to pretend I'm some misplaced god tier mid laner. But certainly winning 8/10 placement games, then maintaining a 70% winrate up through 40 games shouldve gotten me out of bronze.

Lets not forget the numerous client crashes that forced remakes/dodges costing me LP. (50 in one day thanks to back to back crashes.)

These issues make ranked feel more like luck of the draw opposed to skill based matchmaking. I hope to see revision, as well as a clearer breakdown of MMR, how it effects LP, and what makes it increase and decrease.

Happy hunting on the rift guys. rant concluded. Please leave thoughts below. I know im not the only one feeling some type of way after this season.

Then practice Support. Ranked is not "where we go to showcase our best". Thats just an opinion. Everyone gets autofilled. Therefore everyone is going to get uncomfortable roles. Players who are well rounded will still do well. Being able to perform at least adequately in each role shouldn't really be an issue.

I just took a quick look at your match history and it doesn't seem like you've had to face any "gold II" midlaners. It didn't happen. You can go through your "Ranked Solo" tab and look for yourself. Its actually amazing to see how you almost never get matched with or against anyone that isn't Bronze 3-5. I see one Silver 5 in one game but thats it

Don't hover your intended pick in champ select. They can't ban it if you don't show it. I never do. Ever.

The flaming doesn't get any better as you move up unfortunately.

My LoL client hasnt crashed in years. Maybe theres an issue going on thats on your end. No clue

Skill is factored into autofill games because either you are better than your opponents or they are better than you at league of legends. Climbing on the ladder isnt about being good at top or bot or mid or jg, instead its about being good at LOL.

As for your other point about matchmaking, i agree. I think riot should try to match players against players in their own bracket as much as possible and not go off of mmr.

And hopefully the crashes and forced remakes are fixed with client updates, fingers crossed!
