The matchmaking system places fresh, unranked players (with no previous seasons of ranked) WAAAAY too high during their initial placements. It really should start them out in maybe high bronze/low silver mmr, and then if they demonstrate that they belong in a higher bracket allow their mmr to rapidly rise. I'm guessing since you play on a server with a relatively low population (OCE) this problem is compounded. It's unfortunate that this happened to you in promos. FeelsBadMan

edit: Ah as the other poster said it appears this player was ranked in plat last season, so that would explain why he is in your mmr for placements. He just seems to be having a really rough time with his placements this season. Regardless my point still stands, though I'm not sure a brand new player would start placements at a plat mmr, it still starts them higher than I think is reasonable for a first-time ranked player.

well, its oce and you guys have fewer players than other servers and they match make you (sometimes) with something that is not your level because of the matchmaking time.

I saw that happening on some streams they play o smurf and they got d4 with 80%+ winrate and had gold 3 players with 41%winrate LOL

I think last week (?) I had a game and the support was decent so I asked him to join me the next game. He did, only to find out it was impossible to start the match as he was bronze and I was gold.

Like ... how the fk was here there in the first place? Now this particular player, was a decent enchanter, but can't help but wonder what if there were others like him outmatched in solo lanes.

He was very nice this October and the great pumpkin granted him his wish, to be put with plat players

If it's the game with the bard support they were platinum last season which will put them in your high gold/low plat game and must have recently just started playing ranked again before the end of the season

It was a Plat 3 game. He finished in Plat 3 with 62 LP last season. Entirely feasible he could wind up if your game even if he won't get placed in Plat once he finishes his ranked games.
