Aatrox

This guy had a rough time since his release,a lot of up and downs nerfs,buffs,changed...and then forgotten for a long time, when i found out about the rework i was happy thinking oh finally some changed maybe buffs to dmg,skills...and when i saw its complete rework VGU i was like well i hope he is good, and of course he was bad(because i was bad at him as he was completely new champion)but i managed to learn him and i was good with him,and a lot of people picked him up again or tried him for the 1st time,he was good,in meta, strong,i admit maybe a bit strong but again you only have to take advantage of his Q CD,and then nerfs, his ult duration for 12 to 10 and i was like yeah ok good nerf less diving ,less dmg buff overall and he was still fine, then jg nerf tho i dont care about this one as i played like 5 jg games max,and then, then the gods of LoL decided to punish Aatrox with less healing,Q dmg and E dash, like come on the thing they hyped in spotlight and something that makes him good is his E-Q combo, which is now form early to mid game impossible to do which means he cant get to late game where his E cd is low and enough for combo, and once again Aatrox fell into nothingness forgotten with 0 buffs or mentioning of him from Riot,i really dont understand those people, they gave him the coolest skin from the best skin line(IMO) and then bam sike here comes some nerfs as a thanks for buying the skin,so i wonder for how long will that be the case for Aatrox

Buff his base stats to compete with other juggernauts Buff his healing to Rhaast levels Buff his base damages so he doesn't have to build like Riven just to have less damage than her and be less tanky, maybe nerf his ratios to balance it out

Riot will never do these things though, they'll let him die*[zombie-nunu-bummed]*

And then he's just the best top laner again and he crowds out other picks in LCS and he gets nerfed.

He needs buffs LIKE that, but not exactly carbon copy like that. A power shift is required, but then the functionality of the kit comes into question: Where is power gonna go that it wont be useless or too powerful? The answer is nowhere. Buffing W is meh (its a setup for Q, thats it), E just feeds into Q's issue, cant buff Q without breaking it again, and R has too many things stacked on it.

Horrifically overnerfed because some Korean kids can stomp NA players on smurfs. It's a pretty common problem these days with the complicated champion designs Riot makes. A champion has a lot of mechanics, and the players who play 16 hours a day get good with them and start to roll people so the pro players start to bitch and whine about it until the champion is nerfed. Meanwhile at normal elo and for average players the champion has a 50% win rate but still gets nerfed down to unplayable tier (Azir Akali Aatrox )

Right click and mage champs are just 10x better than AA

I think all they really need to do it let him hold two dash charges again.

Easy fix. Just undo the rework lul

Ragnaveil2 votes

Issue is, they dont want two of the same champ. The only likely thing would be a partial, but that W ain't coming back, nor is the passive GA.

huhndog1 votes

I know, but its a pipe-dream I wont let go ;-;

Like, they just need to put more emphasis on the sword (obviously), but without making it too blatantly obvious with how his Q is right now (something that works almost exactly like Riven's without the mobility and fast casting). He's supposed to be a diver, old and current. Current just has a terrible way of backline access. Also, for a Darkin, he kinda lacks...that theme in his kit besides the R and his model.

You'd think a champion with such flashy visuals for LCS play wouldn't be out right gutted. But here we are.

I feel like his damage should have some ad ratio, but maybe a health ratio along with it so he isn't lacking behind.

He's still one of the best counterpicks to Yorick - dash right out of the circle of souls and go to town. However, that's all I really use him for at present. His lack of tankiness is one of the worst problems...C9 just got ruined with Svenskeren on him because he was a wooden stick compared to Xmithie on Sejuani. I feel his ultimate is problematic too, because right now all his resurrect tends to do is deny kills, because even after the resurrect he's still forced out of teamfights.

I honestly think he was a more interesting and skill-based champion before the rework, and he saw a resurgence in usefulness and was getting picked in LCS right up to the day of the rework release, so the notion that he really needed the rework in the first place seems dubious now. The Blood Well management on his old version was an interesting, unique mechanic; now he just feels kind of braindead.

Fixing him? There are a couple of good suggestions here. A few more on my end:

  • Give him a less powerful version of his healing vs. minions back.
  • Buff his base armor or HP.
  • Put a version of the old Blood Well mechanic back somehow (yeah, won't happen, but I can dream)

Aatrox is so annoying to play vs as yorick lol.

Really? After the nerf I find it extremely easy. All you do is E with ghouls and slap him until he uses his E and then you W.

Try taking Approach Velocity, makes it easier to punish him when you land E (raises your MS bonus from +20% => +35% so you can threaten him into using his E faster so you can land W).

I haven't played vs him after the nerfs.

Thats how bad the nerfs were lol

Riot only nerfs skill champions but champions like Tryndamere and Master Yi they only buff.

Aatrox is fine lol. Dude is still played a lot in competitive and doing relatively fine in soloq.

why does that page say aatrox counters gangplank, right now gangplank totally owns him in lane, lol

Matchup is rarely played. It makes sense considering GP is in a very odd position atm along with Aatrox.

Welcome to third party unapproved by riot programs ;) were people go and base their opinions on nerfs and buffs a champion deserves xd

That's the boards for you. If those were Lux's stats there would be at least 3 posts complaining about it and demanding buffs on the front page.

Ragnaveil2 votes

Or defending on hit Neeko because the playrate is low (even though its pretty much the best build for her period, her AP one isn't worth it if you can just nuke people via autos)

46% win rate in plat+, 43% in lower elos

"fine btw"

Replace the knockup from his Q with a slow, allow him to move while casting it and give him 3 AAs after his E cast empowered with atk speed and high sustain. Change the shape of his W into a square instead of a rectangle and finally, allow his Q to knock up again when he ults

Aargus1 votes

i would add slow to his passive like after procking it the target is slowed by 50% for 2s or smth like that

The Trent1 votes

Aatrox can carry you all the way up to diamond considering he's still a champion that can win lane easily. It's not like you actually need to pick great champions until you're at like challenger. Otherwise as long as you don't pick garbage champs your game knowledge should carry you more than the champ you pick.

Ragnaveil2 votes

"win lane" Try laning against a mage that has just an ounce of mobility. They will poke your ass out over and over. I tried picking Aatrox into Azir (a squishy mage that has to use his solders right for mobility) and more times than not, I would lose the trade despite landing all 3 qs because his stats are shit in their current state.
