How do I not die in team fights as lucian?

I recently bought lucian on my other account and, I can't play him for my life Laning phase isn't terrible but, I just feel like I have to get so close to the enemy team in team fights to do any damage and this results in me being 1 shot. How do I avoid this?

Go in after opponents have already expensed their burst skills. Otherwise, build tanky item 3053 item 3072 item 3156 ;D

get guardian angel it actually was a recommended item in season 6. It builds armor and brings u back alive
