A Diana one trick pony's opinion on the E buff

I am a Diana one trick pony with 800k+ Mastery points (mostly norms), so I know quite a bit about my champion.

I saw the E change and felt optimistic, changing the pull distance didn't seem like a bad utility buff (not that Diana needs one. She spouts a healthy 49 / 50% winrate, and even higher for the one trick ponies like me who know how to use her fully).

I recently went in game to test this change out. Her E at max range put an ADC on top of me, and when I ult E'd into a group of 4, and no one could escape my teams followup because of how strong the pull was.

Dianas niche has always been to flank / deal high amounts of damage to the backline, Zhonyas, and chain Q-R's + passive onto tankier targets, not setup wombo plays. I feel like this is the wrong direction to push her into, and may cause you guys to look at nerfs in the future (I dislike chain reaction nerfs that arise from buffs strongly).

I'm writing this to ask you to either consider placing the pull range lower (50 units), increase the cooldown a little bit more, or leave it as is on the live servers. Despite E being a worthless ability until 8 when laning; she feels strong to me on live (probably because its the only champion I play, and have only played constantly since release).

I really appreciate the power you're trying to give to an ability most Diana mains consider lackluster, but it feels like its too much. Maybe scrap this change until her diver rework comes around?

All this change does is give her more power ontop of the burst she can output (although her tankier builds were hurt with the ap nerfs on zhonyas / abyssal, for tradeoff with the more bursty builds were she falls easier when the shield is on cooldown).

Thank you for taking the time to read this. I hope the feedback was somewhat helpful. I hope I can get a rioters thoughts on this (Cross posted in one gameplay).

Tldr;

E change makes her too sticky / gives power where its not needed.

Small note - I'll be testing this ALOT more over the week to draw better analysis. This is only based off of one game so far

does this mean diana is the new ori ball?

origionally she was to be a dive fighter but her most common build became more like a burst assassin.

This is a step in the direction of making her a little less busty and potentially more spread out but with better utility.

I know your fears though and they are well based on a consistent history of things Riot has tended to do.

Damn 800k Diana. That's cray. I'm a 300k Plat 2 Diana main. Diana is pretty balenced on live right now in my opinion. I also do not want Diana to be chain reaction nerfed but I know the designer of Diana when she was originally designed wanted her to be a wombo champion. Honestly any changes to Diana at all scare me because she walks the line of op or useless. Tank Diana is currently very bad and if your behind its kind of your only choice. If the enemy team starts building Mr Diana kind of falls apart unless you can get yourself back in the game somehow. Although on the alternative she could be one shotting champions in a 2v1 rape fest. Her sheild gives her something no other champion has and that's a sheild that does damage. With this new e buff Diana could go from a qre champion to a wre team fight champion.

She will get more touches in assassins rework soon, so don't panic.

Perhaps they can make it scale with rank? 150/175/200/225/250

I have to disagree, i played diana alot in the past, and i often used her and her E to setup plays, especially befor the aoe was nerfed, but still afterwards aswell. Buffing that aspect imo is a great decision, rewarding dianas for proper positioning with E and giving her an identity beyond 'lol, oneshot' if fed. i'd rather see her getting a setep closer to the diver rework and evt loosing some ult damage to reduce the singletarget burst if she ends to strong with that buff.

I think her E buff was somewhat necessary . I mean her old E wasn't useless. but the range was basically melee range for the pull. so it wasn't all that useful other than the slow on it.

Ex aatrox main on the fact that riot ignores him:

Why is it so hard to delete his revive and W so he can be healthy?

I've played a bit of diana, (mastery level 2 so not much) and I think she's already sticky enough, the E changes feel like an over kill.

They buffed her E? Okay I missed that in the patch notes. It however does explain a few things that I've seen the past couple of days. That is, Diana jumping into the enemy team and basically Ori ulting without the damage, as a former Diana main I was wondering how those Dianas were even pulling that off.

I recently went in game to test this change out.

With respect, it's PBE, you're in Masters and you specifically went into the game to abuse her new E.

I dislike chain reaction nerfs that arise from buffs strongly

... I take it you mean that the E buff isn't enough to warrant (possibly numerous) damage nerfs to make up for her stickiness/CC?

I wouldn't worry though, while Diana sometimes wrecks the pit of despair that I reside in when I play ranked (silver-gold) she is neither as hated as AD fighters nor is she much of an issue in higher levels of play. Which is the only reason a champion can get Azir'd or Yi'd.

the buff seems nice, i dabble in diana and shes one of the few junglers i will play if i ever pick jungle. but this just doesn't seem like the right buff? i don't know, its nice and i think its great but it just feels off. if they want her to be a diving fighter type thing, it'd probably be better to buff her passive or her Sheild orbs instead of her pull.

Given that her core items got their AP lowered in the MYMU, I think the buff is warranted. -30 AP on Zhonyas and -10 AP on Abyssal.

Pulling an entire team closer to a durable assassin is strong enough, but pulling the entire team onto the durable assassin means she is losing her assassin capabilities and becoming a team fight assassin, which there is already one of those Katarina

I just hope it doesnt overbuff her to the point of pick/ban.

i played the shit out of her in ranked this season. only took me a day or two to hit gold spamming Rune Glaive jungle Diana
