Why lose like 40 lp when losing promos

Title and shouldn't it just be 20 lp so you can at least win 1 game to get back into promos?

if you lose 2 in a row at 20 each, its 40. A loss in promos subtracts whatever your normal loss in from 100LP, so if you 1-2, yeah, you'd be -20, but 0-2 would be -40

Then if you go 2-0 shouldn't you be at 40 LP? The promo system is garbage.

No, you are fighting to move up. You can't earn LP in a rank you haven't earned yet.

this is total garbage

it sucks so hard, i lost 60 lp in a promo to plat, only cuz i get lowest type of players.

my enemy team had 1 diamon while i had gold 3 max , how was i suppose to carry this shit

I think it is based on your performance in promos. Say you go 0-2 in promos, if you had lost those 2 games you would have lost 30-40 love so it puts you at around 60 (100-40=60). Often though I find myself winning 1 game back to promos, and I think this is when you go 1-2 . Since your net loss is 1, and you would have lost say 15-20 lp, it puts you at around 80 (100-20=80).

yea but what do I do if both those games were filled with trolls and smurfs? o that right NOTHING. waste my entire week trying to get into promos and I have to do it all over again

That'd be very unfortunate, but sadly that's just the game and there's always a chance that trolls or smurfs will ruin your games, even promos. But if you really want it you can always work your way back in no time :)

It's the riot games matching algorithm. I had many games where it was one-sided, and we get free wins or they get free wins in ranked, and wonder how we EVER got matched up. If the MMR was properly matched up, the advancement of tiers would be more steady. This game is waste of time and commitment.
