Tank meta? Nope. It is Snowball, CC and Tank Meta.
Snowball have never been so seriously like this meta. Its easily to be tanky, due to tanky item cost relatively cheaper than AD/AP item, while give more utility. And furthermore, a sooner tank is always better than a later tank, which made the advantage in early game become essential.
In the past, due to lack of AoE damage, major tank have many AoE CC. But nowadays, even when they give HUGE AoE dmg (yes, thank to Cinderhulk), they still have many deadly AoE CC (ridiculous Sej's ult, every 6 sec AoE knock-up of Rek'Sai, tons of CC from Gragas). The more time they live in combat, the more CC they can use. Moreover, the lovely tankers also have some kinds of %HP to be extremely dangerous.
It is go in the wrong way with which Riot's Balance Team talking about: "Should not good in all situation". We still think tankers is kite-able and extremely dumb? Nope, Riot give them Righteous Glory. Tankiness, mobility, have tons of CC, deal deadly AoE dmg. What do they want more? You have 3500 BT and 3200 BorK? Dont worry, we have 2200 Thornmail and 2800 Randuin's, and 700 gold to spam Iron Elixir.
Someone still think assassin is viable. Nope. Even when you diving deep and successfully kill enemy's AP or AD, the tanks front line still have enough dmg to blow up any squishy assassin, especially after they used all their kit to kill opponent dmg dealer.
Due to every people go tankiness (you can see in the MSI), each teamfight seems like lasting forever, and the winner often who have better early game. Someone think that interesting, but imo, its harm the core value of League: "fast and furious" game. Now it come to the play of extremely long range poke, or tons of meat run into others, or tons of meats squash squishy without any way except run away to react.
You found it funny? Yes, because they are over OP now, with all the kit Riot give them. Remove Righteous Glory and all or most of the AoE dmg from Cinderhulk, and everythings will be better.
