Ranger's Trailblazer: the Jungler's Swiss Army Knife
Allow me to be blunt when I say that this item as it is currently is a must-have on any jungler, despite ability to gank, clear, or sustain.
Why, you may ask? Well, here are a few of the successful uses I've had with it:
- AoE Stun on Elite Minions + Smite damage: Nothing is better at stalling winions from winning than an AoE stun that deals 1000 true damage to the main target.
- Stun + Smite buff: Particularly on Murkwolves and Raptors, but also on Red Bramblebacks and Blue Sentinels, this allows you to safely get the smite buff from these monsters without actually engaging them.
- Trailblazer sustain + Smite buff: I'm not entirely sure how the math works between Trailblazer, and the Brambleback/Sentinel's smite buff, but let's just say that all it takes for you to go from dead to deadly is a smite on red or blue.
- Rift Scuttler stun: Not a major application, but one I should note due to certain mage junglers having trouble securing a scuttler (e.g. Fiddlesticks).
- Dragon/Baron sustain: Having a tough time taking down Baron or Dragon without compromising your ability to gank or team fight afterwards? Why not add sustain to your killing blow?
- AoE Stun on Pets + Smite Damage: Same as 1, except in regards to Champion's pets. A well-placed and well-timed smite can do so much to break a standstill.
Anyhow, I wouldn't call for a nerf to Ranger's Trailblazer itself, but rather rework the sustain mechanic into Hunter's Machete itself somehow (perhaps 5 to 10% instead of 15%?) and thus grant that % missing mana regen and % missing health regen to all upgrades to the machete.

and expect to be relevant late game unless you honestly are fighting people with about half as much brains as you. Counterjungling is effectively dead and Devourer takes far too long to practically stack up with its +50% attack speed and on-hit bonus when you can get the Warrior enchantment for +40 AD, 10% CDR, and 10 Armor Penetration; Magus for +80 AP, and +20% CDR, or Cinderhulk for an Immolate aura that gets stronger over time in combat and +25% bonus health from ALL SOURCES.
