Help with MMR

I'm currently level 30 at the moment but when I play normals I get matched with any ranked Silver - Diamond, I even got matched with a Challenger yesterday... My sister said that there's a normal game MMR and ranked MMR not sure if it's true, if it is is it because I play with my Gold III friend? Can this be changed? I get flamed for not being good as they are and it's really annoying being matched up with ranked players like Plat/Diamond/Challenger...

Normals mmr is always going to be wonky. Plenty of high mmr ranked players with low mmr in normals due to never playing it. Throw premises into the mix and it's possible to have bronze 5 and challenger in the same game. Ranked mmr is more accurate and the range of players is tighter.
