In season 3 I had the constant 73 ping, then the ping increased season by season from 73 to 81 to 90. But now? I have 140 for some reason. It isn't my internet connection because every other games runs on low ping. Is it because you idiots are busy with LCS? shouldn't you consider to have more dedicated server? This is getting ridiculous.
FyreNinja5 votesEveryone is having high ping probs now, not just east coast. Almost every single game I have played in a while, someone (not necessarily me) is above 500 ping. I play at a consistant 170. This has to be fixed soon
Sena1 votesWhich region are you from? Curious. West or East? I got pretty much the same story as you to tell and I'm West. Funny thing is, I moved East to West geographically, where I used to have 80 ms ping in East I now have 120 ms ping in West...but when I first landed West I had 20 ms ping.

I don't know why your ping would be at 120 ms even though you are living in west. and wow your name name is Sena? my second account name is Sena the blonde lol. It definitely has to do with Riot goofing with the server.
Sena1 votesI heard from some folks saying Riot was doing some major server/networking stuff beginning November so that may be part of the reason. I've been back and forth with my ISP for almost 3 months now and they pretty much exhausted all their troubleshooting/testing. It doesn't seem like it's my ISP.

Riot IS, in theory, doing massive network upgrades. By which I mean that they're supposedly creating a League-specific infrastructure that will span most or all of the United States, to fix routing issues.
But even when they finish their network many on the East Coast will still suffer from problems with ping. The data has a long way to travel no matter what network it is on. And in the US most of the internet backbone sits alongside the interstates. Which is not the most efficient path for data to travel.

This network uses existing infrastructure. Primarily Zayo, Centurylink, and Level3 infrastructure to be exact. They may be able to control how and where the traffic is routed but they still use preexisting physical networks and still have all the inefficiencies that I mentioned.

I really wish if there were other options to route through and that riot would explore them. There may not be, but I can say for sure zayo/above.net is trash and the reason I can't play league with reasonable ping or packet loss. Zayo servers drop packets and spike ping so bad its almost funny, except I have to deal with it.
Sailor Mint1 votesHigh Ping is a sign of bad routing. Packet Loss means that something between your modem and Riot's servers is throttling your connection/dropping packets.
Unless the issue is caused by your network or your ISP there's very little you can do about it. Riot is currently working with ISPs to try to fix the issue.

its even worse after patches and at the start of the season because a lot of inactives will log on and play for awhile.
