League's matchmaking system - why are there so many afk, tilted, trolling, etc. on my team?

I'm a pretty solid silver 3/silver 4 player. I worked hard this past season to get from silver 3, down to silver 5, back to silver 3, back down to silver 5, and finally ended the season at silver 3.

I've had more games where I had to deal with an afk, raging, or team-trolling players, than I had games where I had to deal with someone whose skill out-scaled my own. More often than not, my game boils down to which team fed first, and hardest, skill at the game can be left out after that point.

During the off season I got matched up against several diamond and gold players, and in some of those games, my team won. My frustration is, I play well, I ward (I've been told that I ward too much), I watch pro games to get a feel for big impact behavior and plays, I play lots of practice games with champs I'm not as comfortable with, until I get comfortable...and then I get matched with a guy who queued into ranked, so he could "have fun" playing morde supp in a silver bracket (http://matchhistory.na.leagueoflegends.com/en/#match-details/NA1/2367259352/39343699?tab=overview) ...we lost, apparently a fed adc on the other team is rough to deal with.

I say all that to get to this question: Why is it too much to ask for a system that filters people with 100+, 200+, 300+ games from having to deal with the guy who doesn't even have 10 games of ranked played yet, and insists that taking a weak or off meta champ into the game will pan out? I understand that saying someone isn't skilled is a rough deal...but there is a difference between someone taking ranked seriously...and someone picking Morde into a Zyra. I'd like to see some kind of additional report option for trolling your own team. It is detrimental to both teams' game play, from the standpoint of the mmr system trying to balance players on equivalent teams, and the players actually queuing to attempt a win.

The qualities that help people win are more than just cs, kills, assists, and deaths. Alternatively (to an additional report option), many of the games I won last season, I was on teams with a greater average of kill participation than the other team. Many of the games I lost, were to teams with a larger percentage of group participated kills than my team. I know Riot folks are still trying to find a balance, but I'm stuck in silvers with two back-to-back games of people who made bad choices at champ select which resulted in a net loss for my team. I guess what I'd really like to see is some protection from the folks who queue up to troll other people. Less LP penalty for a loss with someone who was judged by the tribunal to have been intentionally throwing, afk, or trolling their team (with no penalty to the victors).

TL; DR: I want some kind of protection from trolls, I know Riot is working hard, but having to fight my own team for a win is frustrating.

P.S. rant is over, I feel better...but I still would like to see some kind of anti-troll protection for the victims of that behavior.

why is matchmaking blamed for troll/afk's? thats a player decision that a computer cannot account for

I suspect if you were in a queue of silver players who have played 300+ ranked games, queue times would be much longer.

The answer to any such issues is to "git gud". I was recently in a S4 game where our midlaner was a syndra that went 20/1/3 and single handedly carried. I looked up their match history, and it was 100% winrates, with every game having crazy high KDAs. That's what happens when you are actually a good player in silver. It simply doesn't matter what your teammates do. Take a look...
