Hiding behind Turrets

I've had this issue for multiples years/seasons now.

Scenario: A small champion, such as Akali, behind her turret while I, any damage champion in the game, is trying to kill her. I've used all my abilities and now only need one auto attack to finish the kill (extremely simply). But, lo and behold, the zone for selecting/attacking the turret extends way beyond the base of the turret, while I'm trying to click the Akali hiding behind the model for the turret. I proceed to die. I knew what needed to happen, I wasn't outplayed, but how was I supposed to tell the game I wanted to hit Akali?

Solution: Make the selectable/attackable section of the turret confined to the bottom section.

Conclusion: Whenever I watch gameplay of others (high elo/low elo) it's clear that when someone is pushing a turret to take it, they click near the bottom; myself included. The excess model is cute and cool and all, but gets in the way of actual gameplay on occasional to rare occurrences.

Gee its almost like this is a strategy game turned PvP.

Hiding behind turrets is on purpose, and when you couldn't (on camoflauged champs, namely Evelynn) people threw fits and Riot had to retool how revealing stealth worked so that you weren't seen around corners through FoW.
