Owners of traps lose homeguard+mobility boot speed from across the map

So this applies to anyone with traps. Cait/Nid/Shaco/Teemo.

If a trap is set off from across the map while the owner of it is using homeguard or mobility boots, it causes them to lose their speed.

I was watching someone's stream in a high teir game. A Nid was being chased but she had Mobil boots and was easily going to get away. The streamer saw a trap on the ground in a different lane and deliberately set it off so his team could catch her and She ended up dieing. It was an amazing play and reaction from the streamer but this seems a little messed up.

I think that if you are an X amount of distance away from the trap you shouldn't be effected by this.

I understand why it behaves like this: "in-combat" is defined by "dealing or being dealt damage".

In this case, I think an exception should be made. I agree with OP suggestion. +1

It was an amazing play

No.

Like, I don't think that was "amazing" in the slightest. It was an abuse of the game's rules, and probably shouldn't be a thing. But, I will admit, that was pretty fucking clever and the magnificent bastard has every right to be proud of what he did.

Amazing play? No. Clever? Yeah.

Also affects the use of the undo button. I play a lot of Teemo (I can feel your hate)

Sometimes I'll be in the store and buy the wrong item or a potion too many, then someone steps on a shroom and I can't undo my purchase. Can be quite annoying.

There's no reason it shouldn't put them in combat. Think of all of the traps in the game. Nid's does damage. Shaco's does damage and CC's you. Teemo's does damage and CC's you. Mao's 'trap' does damage and CC's you. Cait's CC's you.

If they can give a benefit to your team from all the way across the map while you're at base, they should be a penalty in the opposite regard since traps generally aren't used conservatively. They're almost thoughtlessly spammed at chokes and in bushes.

Unless you want them all to work like Heimer's turrets. I'd be okay with that. (Jk this wouldn't be a good option either)

Wasn't there a change that went in last patch for this with homeguards? 5000 range from memory?

They do damage. Damage means combat. Combat means losing homeguards.

same with the refund system ingame, once bought wrong item but couldn't refund because someone stood in my trap...

It's weird that it effects caitlin traps since they don't do damage (on their own). It makes sense for the other 3 since their traps deal damage, but it's definitely annoying for mobilitiy boots users.

Same thing happens with homeguards. It's annoying as hell
