Problem about the new champ select

Hey guys ! So I've been playing for a bit on this new champ select and my friends and I have been experiencing some accidental dodging because we forgot to lock our champ or simply hadn't time for it (My friend lost his promos because of that too). I'm just asking why does the system, instead of locking automaticaly the champ you have in select, makes you dodge and loose lp ? Wouldn't it be better if it locked the champ if the countdown would run out (just like it used to do)? It's also getting a bit boring all these dodges because people forget to lock..

It's been asked before. I think the answer was something like Riot's encouraging all players to stay fully focused on the game even in the champion select. That's the reason behind the last three players banning and a player having to lock in their choice. :P

I think that it's good to encourage faster drafting, however TBH I think a better system would be a "Reward" system where you get extra IP if you lock in faster
