Annie was the very first champion Riot created.

The guy's above me are partially right but to my knowledge Singed (originally called Singe) was the first champion designed but not the first put into the game. Sion was the first to be put into the game, then shortly afterwards were Annie, Sivir, and Twisted Fate in that order. The following champions of Sion, Annie, Sivir, Twisted Fate, Alistar, Soraka, Tristana, Teemo, Ashe, Warwick, Ryze, Fiddlesticks, Kayle, Morgana (originally called Morgana Le), Jax, Master Yi, and Nunu were playable upon Alpha Launch.
