So the standard build I see is warrior with either blue or green smite into ghostblade. What I am wondering is why go for that item when I feel deaths dance is better because it gives you a massive amount of ad and I like its passive more then the movespeed and attack speed offered by ghostblade. It also gives 10% cdr which helps kha get that one last q or w off for that close gank or tower dive. Why is ghost blade so much more popular?

Ghostblade actually has been a great pick for a while ever since it was given it's armor pen. People used to buy Deaths Dance after warrior, but even then people didn't realize how good GB was. Some people even go as far as to pick apen runes of AD, because early game armor pen when no champions really have tank items adds to your damage a lot more than just flat AD.
Deaths dance is an ok pick if you aren't comfortable with how much damage you will take and do (comes with time playing Kha), but you have to keep in mind that you'll be trading damage for that sustain passive in the early game when Kha already is able to sustain through the jungle no problem.
armor pen, cd and ms to catch up to enemys. you may like deaths dances passive but you actually dont really need it. a lot of khas go hunters potion for the mana which then also gives you heal and w also heals enough. armor pen is the best stat on every ad assasin too
