Relatively Recent Ryze Revamp

I'll be honest, it's not horrible, but it sure as hell wasn't great. You guys wanted Ryze to be nerfed, and that's what you got - but now he's utterly worthless.

His damage output went completely down the drain with the passive & q changes. Yes, the skillshot addition is nice! I like it! Makes it a little more challenging to facestomp kiddies in the midlane/toplane. But the passive... Everything about it has changed so drastically that it's no longer as useful as Old Ryze. It does not work with his skill getup anywhere near as well as Old Ryze, so it's a huge shame.

His range is still excessively short for a mage, so if he goes mid he can not afford to go forward and get his passive stacks up to get the cooldown and the waveclear following it without being seriously out-traded by almost all midlane champions. Not only that, but he has no viable poke anymore without a on-target Q, so the trades are almost nonexistent against somebody with larger range than him.

If you want him to keep his passive, thats fine, because it could be viable. But his Q definitely needs to change for that to happen. It should be changed to do 1 or 2 of the following 3 things. (any of the two combined would probably be too strong though) 1: Increase its range by 25 ~ 50%. 2: Make its damage an AOE. (something close to galio Q size... or hell, i'd even be content with a Rek'Sai Q) 3: Make it travel through targets (like Zed or Veigars Q).

Another change that would be so much better in his passive would be this : Instead of having the stacks last 12 seconds upon gaining a new stack, make them last indefinitely. Similar to Annie's stun stacks, or kennens auto attack stacks. This would HUGELY increase his strategic playability and make him more of a scary champion to those paying attention. It is a visible stack through his new graphics! Make it worth those graphics! (that being said it could also prove detrimental, I just can't pinpoint exactly how)

His E does aoe damage now, instead of bouncing, so that will be extremely helpful in waveclearing... but it's cooldown isn't on par unless you build into it really early, sacrificing much needed damage. It just doesn't balance out. Some changes to his Q would fix that.

If his Q is given some of those bonuses, his current passive (the one I dislike) should be slightly nerfed so his waveclear isn't through the roof in early game. Late game, though, it should do it's normal shiz. You could even remove the cooldown altogether and have it get unlocked at a certain level. The cooldown could make or break Ryze.

Just my thoughts on it. I used to play Old Ryze a good amount, and got very used to his playstyle and so on. Recently played aram and got stuck with him, only to realize that he was completely different. (on aram it's not so bad because everyone is close together so his E does some serious work mixed with his ult, but the Q was effectively nonexistent in that game mode as well lol)

The main concerns I have for the revamped ryze is that I feel in order to maximize ryze's damage maxing E is the way to go. The revamp made his Q extremely unreliable yet to compensate his e does relatively low damage. ALSO, MY MAIN FRUSTRATION IS THAT RIOT MADE IT SO HE CANT EVEN LAST HIT CASTER MINIONS UNDER TOWER WTFS UP WITH THAT........... his autos leave it at like 4 health. Overall i feel the revamp was a slight failure... sorry riot he just doesnt have what it takes to be a threat

I changed up the post to be a little less rude and uninviting so hopefully people will be able to read it without them thinking "Oh, this guys just raging because he lost". I read the whole "read this before you post" in this board section and noticed I did some wrongs haha. Anyways, I hope its easier on the eyes.

i was absolutely horrified when i first tried the ryze rework. no, horrified is an understatement. I was _**utterly devastated **_when I tried playing new Ryze. It felt like a literal slap across the face when I saw how much his combo does at level 3. My jaw literally dropped to the fucking FLOOR when I realized what state ryze is in right now. Just makes no sense. You would think after the horrendous Cass and Skarner rework launch they could get some numbers right but GODAMMMMMMMMMN. So they basically removed Ryze's lane phase in exchange for a very short range skillshot and a fucking shield . MUCH WOOOOOOOOOW. I would rather beat myself over the head with a brick than try to struggle through another normal game as the current ryze. He can't top anymore, because bruisers can outtrade him early now, and he cant mid because his ranges are still garbage, SO WHERE DO I PLAY RYZE? PLS TELL ME RIOT. You took my favorite mage champ and fucking castrated him. Not like this was the first time either. Finally after 3 seasons ryze finds a spot where he can get picked at a Worlds Tournament, then they do this. Never touching this shit champ again until they inevitably buff his number because both his winrate and pickrate have fallen off the map. I mean like WTF, he isnt even meta this season, they just HAD TO FUCK WITH RYZE AGAIN. thanks riot, I seriously consider this the biggest fuck up yet, over the scrapping of magma chamber

Buffs on PBE are a start, getting 6 seconds on his passive immediately will help a lot, unfortunately his will still OOM himself before he can finish the job on top lane opponents and most mid lane champs can safely farm while staying out of his range and punish him hard before he can close on them. I think he is better top lane and that short range is part of his identity, so I'd like to see some sort of mana return or reduced mana costs when his passive is up so he has enough mana to farm, build up stacks, and trade before he has a fully stacked tear.

A little love on his AA animation and/or damage to make last hitting without spending mana not quite such a chore would be great also.
