Relatively Recent Ryze Revamp
I'll be honest, it's not horrible, but it sure as hell wasn't great. You guys wanted Ryze to be nerfed, and that's what you got - but now he's utterly worthless.
His damage output went completely down the drain with the passive & q changes. Yes, the skillshot addition is nice! I like it! Makes it a little more challenging to facestomp kiddies in the midlane/toplane. But the passive... Everything about it has changed so drastically that it's no longer as useful as Old Ryze. It does not work with his skill getup anywhere near as well as Old Ryze, so it's a huge shame.
His range is still excessively short for a mage, so if he goes mid he can not afford to go forward and get his passive stacks up to get the cooldown and the waveclear following it without being seriously out-traded by almost all midlane champions. Not only that, but he has no viable poke anymore without a on-target Q, so the trades are almost nonexistent against somebody with larger range than him.
If you want him to keep his passive, thats fine, because it could be viable. But his Q definitely needs to change for that to happen. It should be changed to do 1 or 2 of the following 3 things. (any of the two combined would probably be too strong though) 1: Increase its range by 25 ~ 50%. 2: Make its damage an AOE. (something close to galio Q size... or hell, i'd even be content with a Rek'Sai Q) 3: Make it travel through targets (like Zed or Veigars Q).
Another change that would be so much better in his passive would be this : Instead of having the stacks last 12 seconds upon gaining a new stack, make them last indefinitely. Similar to Annie's stun stacks, or kennens auto attack stacks. This would HUGELY increase his strategic playability and make him more of a scary champion to those paying attention. It is a visible stack through his new graphics! Make it worth those graphics! (that being said it could also prove detrimental, I just can't pinpoint exactly how)
His E does aoe damage now, instead of bouncing, so that will be extremely helpful in waveclearing... but it's cooldown isn't on par unless you build into it really early, sacrificing much needed damage. It just doesn't balance out. Some changes to his Q would fix that.
If his Q is given some of those bonuses, his current passive (the one I dislike) should be slightly nerfed so his waveclear isn't through the roof in early game. Late game, though, it should do it's normal shiz. You could even remove the cooldown altogether and have it get unlocked at a certain level. The cooldown could make or break Ryze.
Just my thoughts on it. I used to play Old Ryze a good amount, and got very used to his playstyle and so on. Recently played aram and got stuck with him, only to realize that he was completely different. (on aram it's not so bad because everyone is close together so his E does some serious work mixed with his ult, but the Q was effectively nonexistent in that game mode as well lol)
