I've been playing galio for a while, and I've just read the patch notes. All the MR items are getting nerfed; boot enchantments are gone (no more low CD flash ults). Athenes looks more like a support item now. I mean he's gonna be played even less than what he already was, or am I drunk?
I play Tank Galio, so I'll be fine :)

will be pretty good on him, and the Rocket Belt will help you nail precise ults.
Galio needed the tankiness nerf he did too well against mages in terms of tankiness.
Galio can still go the morel route for even more bonuses (flat mana+grievous wound) with athena's old passive. Also don't buy into the rocketbelt all galio needs is stormraiders dont waste an item slot for it your normal skill ranges are long enough to trigger stormraiders reliably.
I usually asked my support to get it, so I could save that spot for something else, usually more MR or a tanky item, but since it doesn't speed up allies anymore... :(
It's possible. However, with all his good match-ups presumably becoming more popular, I imagine he'll see more play, not less. The loss of Grail as a good item on him is concerning, though.
