Was I lucky to get away with Life Steal Pantheon?

So, yesterday instead of going for the general bruiser Pantheon, I went Lifesteal-AS Pantheon.

My question is, was I lucky to get away with this, or can I try building lifesteal on Pantheon more? (Also, I'm un-ranked so I get paired up with people who have no idea how to counter Pantheon)
