@Repertoir Opinion on new Kog'Maw + food for thought

I don't post on the boards often, so pardon my newbieness to forums. I just wanted to share some quick words on my opinion on Kog'Maw's current state. I main ADC, and he used to be one of my most enjoyable ADC's to play. The W self-buff was extremely satisfying to use (one of my favorite abilities in the game), the E as a very subtle yet useful self-peel, and the Q to aid shredding tanks. Unfortunately, I find him straight up unplayable now, which is a véry difficult thing to say for me because I always trusted Riot's balancing, and I keep enjoying playing my favorite champs through all the nerfs and changes. But right now, I just can't with Kog, and the biggest reason for me personally is his new W. I'm happy with the changes you've made to all the other abilities, but his W just feels unbearable to use, and this is something that you can't simply improve by tweaking some numbers like base AD and base AS. Something feels 'off', like it's slightly sluggish to use, or the attack animation/attack frame/? is different during it (in a bad way). Kiting is one of my favorite things to do, and my biggest personal strength in my role, but the new Kog W just doesn't feel right. You deal less damage per AA , which forces you to pretty much build more on-hit and AS, limiting other build paths. What's worse however, is that because you deal less damage per AA but your AS skyrockets, you need to utilize every AA as good as possible to maximize damage, but trying to kite at the outrageous speed you get just doesn't work out for me. I felt like there was no point in changing Kog into this 'standing still AS cap breaking hypercarry'. I would've rather seen it on a new champ with a kit that suits this style a bit more. I know this probably won't happen, but imo I would like to see the old W come back, with the normal 1.0 AD ratio per AA (but keep the AD ratios). You could maybe add a simple AS buff to W, but make Kog move X% slower while it is active or something like that. This allows Kog to be a véry scary threat while W is active, but makes him easier to catch while using it. (Maybe you can even allow the player to stop the self-buff pre-maturely so that he can chose Damage <> Run faster without being restrained to the self-slow, allowing more decision making in certain situations.) It also gives him at least SOME maneuverability to work with, without it being a completely unusable ability due to the nature of having to chose between 'stand still and do nothing' or 'freak out and click everywhere on the screen uncontrollably' due to the required Actions Per Minute + click accuracy. Because all attack speed items got nerfed, other ADC's have more issues reaching the AS cap, and Kog getting an extra AS boost on top of his already potent on-hit and range increase would still maintain his 'hypercarry' status a bit. I'm by no expert on balancing, I'm just giving my personal opinion on something that might be worth looking in to.

Tnx for taking the time to read my piece. Kind regards, skip

P.S. On the topic of AS items, will we see any new items with a higher amount of attack speed somewhere in the near future? I adore having high attack speed (always loved champs like Vayne, KogMaw, Jinx, Ashe during her Q,...), but the nerfs to items like Statikk Shiv and Phantom Dancer make me a bit sad :/ Would love to see some new, high AS ones, if possible ofcourse ^_^

I don't agree with the OPs suggestions. I'm a Koggy main as of his first free week and I can say from my Dominion experience that given equal footing with his opponents Koggy is an absolute monster. That doesn't translate well to Rift, sadly, so all the Koggy mains who focus on League's main map aren't getting to enjoy their favorite champ right now.

Personally, I like the changes. They make Kog feel more Kog-y as far as I'm concerned. But he needs some serious tweaks if he's going to be at all functional on Rift.

I would love to hear what Repertoir has planned for Kog in the coming patches and I would love to be able to share some of my unique insights.

As someone who plays Kog when I ADC, I personally think he's fine. I love that his ult is now more of an execute ability. This makes his far less toxic to opposing players, but still allows him to carry. His W doesn't hit as hard as before PER HIT, but it seems to do every bit as much damage or more over time.

I think Kog is well balanced right now and the other ADCs need to be balanced around him.
