Best mid champ for Solo que?

Citron77··1 votes·1,057 views

The Hell pits of silver have a various number of players ranging from trolls to honest people trying to climb the ELO ladder.

I am no where near plat or challenger rankings. I like to think i am pretty decent at league. I have mostly good games and seldom go negative with people i main.

In solo queue though it is so hard to try and carry your team in silver due to the sheer fact of emotions (rage quiters/ trolls/ toxic). I am just looking for that one mid champ that can carry and bring my team to victory if we are behind. granted play style and skill have a lot to do with this but in general i just want to know who i should practice with.

I main Viktor mid. I am the best viktor i have seen by far. I am sure there are better but i just havent seen that. I have never lost lane. and i usually start 3n0. never been successfully countered and i still cant carry that hard.

any help would be appreciated! I know there is so much more to mid that i am missing (ganks/ wards/ mechanics) but i am only focusing on the champion.

Viktor is stupid strong right now. If you've got quick fingers and think fast Katarina carried me from S1 to P2 in less than 3 weeks.

Xerath is fairy strong, but like Viktor, he has no mobility. Ziggs is good for the long haul as he has good siege and anti-siege.

Yasuo is very strong pick along with Zed, but both take some work mastering. Swain is probably the easiest with his ult+zhonya's. Ahri is top-tier atm because of mobility in her ult and the sustain in lane. The true damage on her Q is nice too.

Basically, pick one, learn everything about it, and go for it. It's more about how you play than the champion picked.

thanks man i appreciate that. yea i mean im really good with viktor and i have all his mechanics down. before him i used to main swain so ill give that a try too. ive never played ahri but i think i might have to try it haha

I was going to suggest Viktor actually. Not from experience climbing out, but because that's where I'm heading for my new mid main (I seem to change them once every other month or so).

Viktor's Q ignores Yasuo's wind wall and is great against high mobility champions. Viktor's E is great against long range or fast wave clearing champs. Judging by you winning lane, you know that part already, so I'd look at your build and technique.

What build do you normally follow? How do you use your abilities?

my build usually starts off with me getting my first upgrade for my E. then i get boots and depending on if im ahead or behind i either go zhonyas or lichbane. after that i get my second upgrade then either rylais or death cap depending on how im doing. by that time we are either about to lose or already pushed to their nexus. but if i had to build i would get void staff and then whatever items that i previously mentioned that i didnt get.

OK. I feel like the laser start is good, and 9/10 times that's the first augment I get. I'd get Lich bane before anything other damage item though. Just that will take your Q from dealing 50% AP on hit to 100% AP on hit. People tend to react when they see their health bar instantly dip, so that will either buy you some time or force then to dive you.

After that I typically finish the Hex Core and get boots. Pick your choice of 120AP /magic pen/ utility items to round out the build.

If your team can group up, you should be able to do lots of damage while basically using your teammates as meat shields. Run forward, Q-Auto Attack someone, Laser through the team, drop a W and an ult and get ready to Q-Auto again. I recommend getting some extra CDR if you can, just because of the crazy damage you can do when you go through your spells again.

thats really helpful. ill try that out. lich bane is too good on him right now!

Are you constantly pushing towers down, roaming, or calling dragons?

During teamfights, stay behind your allies if you are ahead and let them tank the abilities while you poke whoever is near.

Also, what's your build path? I'd suggest getting your first upgrade (choosing E), then either DFG or Deathcap, then boots/lich bane/second upgrade (choosing q). After that, void and either defensive items or more damage based on how you're doing.

I try to get pressure on mid turret and make it an easy take down. If my mid is ganking everywhere i start to gank too after that. but i try to keep pressure somewhere at all times. i stay back and poke but sometimes i get jumped on (as per usual) so i do everything in my power to survive.

and that build is exactly what i do! granted i might get zhonyas for armor if theyre all ad. but yea everything you said i do.

Then it might be simply mechanics. How good is your last hitting? How much are you denying the enemy opponent? Do you watch any streams?

Citron771 votes

last hitting could use some work not gonna lie.

Denying them like zoning them from minions? i think im alright at that

no streams

Denying is a combination of freezing, zoning, and proxying an additional wave when they die/back after pushing into tower before you back.

If you want to watch a good midlaner, Fatefalls is in the top 30 on NA. He mains Fizz, but can give some good insight. LolGeranimo is an AD main, but constantly gives insight into what he is doing and why.

Xerath - He's high in damage output, really helps teamfights with his range, damage, stun and slow. The damage you pour into a pit during teamfights is invaluable, and the poke incredibly handy during seiges, and slowly whittling health before a teamfight erupts. His ult gets a good range on it, and you can blast a teamfight that erupted without you or nail an enemy 1v1ing an ally in the jung to help them win.

Karma - Good in lane, has some high damage potential herself with R'ing up before a Q or sometimes an E. During teamfights her skills are super helpful. Giving a charge to a Q gives it high damage output, then it explodes again (as often the fight is still where you blasted it). It can also slow an enemy chasing back down lane. Her E helps allies with a sheild and speed boost, helpful for getting them out of harms way (or yourself) when low. She is a good AP nuke who while playing mid, once teamfights start, still has amazing support potential, essentially giving your team an extra support without sacrificing an AP mid
