I like Black Cleaver and Death's Dance as his two primary items. If you need good counterpush or sustain, Ravenous Hydra is a fantastic first item on him. A situational item that's also great is Maw of Malmortius.

When laning, I like to E in when I have a little less than 50 Fury, stun my laning opponent and use the Fury I gained to do an Empowered Q. From there, you can dash out, effectively winning the trade.
