I really just want for one game to not have a zed get fed and I need a hard counter against him

I love Cho mid vs zed.

Edit: barrier summoner is good too.

Yes Zed, please ult and tell me exactly where I should put my Rupture.

Only Lissandra really has somewhat of an edge.

Zed is pretty much a free lane since he's incredibly safe while being manaless.

Energy is good for laning and the occasional short fight, but in teamfights it's a real pain in the ass.

Bot sure about diana, it's a skill matchup imo. And malzahar is done after Zed gets a Qss

Qss only helps zed so much. The immobilize is a tiny part of that matchup

Actualy it denies Malz his ult and you just ult him afterwards

I thought it only dropped the suppression. Still I think mal would have an easy lane. Between space aids and the fact that mal does well tankyish, aka road and the other HP ap item I can never remember the name of, he can be deceptively tough.

Granted I haven't played mal any time recently but when I did it was doable like that

It only cleanses the suspension but if you walk a bit away it also breaks the thether. Also, it's not his ult that does a lot of damage but the space ebola and it gets cleansed aswell. After that you are free to do your thing. Also, late game, if you don't build armor, the damage from botrk and his burst alone are more than enough to take you out... zhonya's won't be that helpful, not in a 1v1 at least... But, in any case, whoever of the 2 wins the lane will win the 1v1s too for obvious reasons.

Thing is though, Zed can only cleanse one of the two (unless both are on at once), and the E will be back up LONG before QSS comes off CD. Not to mention the RoA/Rylai's/Liandry's/Hextech build and his passive. Tanky AND damage.

Early, I'd give the matchup to Zed if he's good, but lategame, he won't want to be anywhere NEAR Malz. Malz will eat him for lunch.

And then burp up a voidling to terrorize the Zed's teammates with.

Dude, i am pretty sure that you really don't know Zed's burst and overall output... If you go "Tanky" in being beefy with not armor, aka zhonya's, you will be deleted really really easily. The most efficient way to burst someone is to combine the silence with space aids and then ult. If you do that, Qss cleanses it all and then he just ults you, drop everything on you and an igninte, do a shit ton of damage, use the botrk's active and 2 AAs and after that, you might heal up to full hp and still die to the deathmark. Trust me, i've poped a 2.6k damage Deathmark on a 4.5k HP Sion with 200 armor, so, Malzahar, with no armor has no chance of survival. No zhonya's means you are more dead than Karthus himself. You all build a lot of hp/AP items and think you are unkillable and do not build armor to actualy have a chance... You are deeply mistaken. An assassin's damage output, especialy zed's, is designed to delete anyone who doesn't have defences with their insane raw damage. No defences equal to a big portion of that raw damage going through. Rengar has the fastest burst, and maybe highest, of AD assassins but Zed has the highest overall output... Rengar can do 2.5k damage in 2 seconds with a triple Q but Zed can do 2k with his spells and AAs in a bit more time and then his ult will do another ton.... so... What do you expect to survive without armor??? There is a reason why Zhonya's is the hardest counter to Zed....

If you are good you can jump the minion space aids to zed for the cost of a q, leaving you with space aids ready to reapply when he cleanses it. If he is bad you wont even need to do that as he will always be catching the tail end of it anyways. I love to see how long it takes someone to "learn" not to stand near the last minion. usually takes half the match if they havent played vs malz before.

Ye, and the space aids range when it jumps from a minion to you is freaking long that, you are like, WTF, I WAS A MILE AWAY hahaha. damn, i keep away and it still hits me... what's the range on that shit anyway? :P

But anyway, if you cleanse the ult it's not that bad, you can still kill him and get out. If heis smart, he will play with ignite and combined with space ebola he will kill you shortly afterwrds

Zhonya's counters zed harder than qss counter malzahar, and it can be built as a first or second item. Rushing qss will mean zed loses a bunch of damage.

Sire Hippington1 votes

if Zed gets Qss to early, he lacks the damage to actually reliably assasinate targets, and Qss only takes away the cc, not the damage, so malzahar still has huge burst on his own to make it a 1v1 trade, though by the time zed has Qss, malz probably has zhonyas...

Yes, sure, you don't rush qss. But, if you play the first part of the laning phase properly, poke effectively, stay away from infected minions and after softening him up, you ult and kill him, also farm a bit, You get back with enough cash to get the dirk, it's cheaper than the old brutalizer, and either a whole Qss, or a mantle and a longsword. After that, you have some mr to help you take less damage and you have more than enough damage to shit on him all over again. Even if you trade kills, it's not that bad for zed because he still gets a kill gold. Although, if you get the first kill, chances are you are good enough to pwn him all over again and if they don't rush zhonya's, it's over for them. Always get at least an armguard if you don't want to rush a zhonya's.

Sire Hippington1 votes

after softening him up, you ult and kill him

vs any half way potent malzahar, this won't work. You will not get killgold unless your jungler offers good help. And with Qss after dirk, your damage falls flat and your impact in early-midgame teamfights will be rather poor.

Hmmm, not really, no. Do you remember the old days with brutalizer? After going back the first time, what did you get on zed? Either a brutalizer and some pots and wards or a brutalizer and some pots and wards. What did i do? Depending on the lane, i went for a brutalizer, a pick axe and 1-2 pots. After going back in lane, it was a slaughter. If i was agains a malzahar, i got a brutalizer and a Qss and with my 19 armor pen runes, i had enough damage to hurt him. A lot. Have you done it yourself? If you had, you would know, with a Dirk and a either a mantle or a qss if you have enough gold, you do more than enough damage because in any case, you would just get a dirk if your lane is so and so and would do fine. So, if you are winning your lane hard and had enough for both a dirk and a Qss, it would be a nightmare for malzahar, especialy with the extra armor pen you have from your masteries and the Decree's extra kick... It is more than fine

But, in any case, the one who makes the least amount of mistakes than the enemy can abuse, will eventualy win the matchup and imo, this is the case for every normal lane matchup.

Her shield makes it harder for zed to kill her with his ult, and her combo is easy to get off on zed even with shadows.

Well, yes but Zed has good poke and burst if he hits all the spells and can do that to soften her up before he ults for the kill. That's why i say, it's a skill matchup. You always have something to do against your opponent and whoever outwits the other wins

Pre rework Mordekaiser was a great counter to Zed. With a cloth 5 start it allowed Morde to counterpush him and not get harrassed as easily while also being able to survive his all ins thanks to Iron Man and Children of the Graves' heal.

Urgot I'm not kidding. You can out poke him once you get a tear cause you won't run oom. If he ults you just ult him back. You get damage reduction and you waste a few seconds for him to stack damage on his ult. You can also buy an early frozen heart for some armor and even more mana and cooldown reduction for more poke.

The problem is, unless you **really **know what you do(and your team aswell), zed will out-perform urgot after the laneingphase. There is a reason for why urgot has low popularity and a not that high succes rate in general.

Lots of champions have a fairly favorable matchup against Zed.

that website says that lux counters zed. which is a fuckin joke

That's more of statement on how strong Lux is more than anything. But if you have to pick a mage to go against Zed, Lux is one of your better choices.

Lux is the definition of anti-snowball. A smart Lux is one of the most annoying things to deal with in the game as any assassin. She can play so freaking safe and just outscale.

FrickendaChicken3 votes

You.

You as the player, must learn how to play around his poke/execution playstyle.

It doesn't matter if (insert champion here) has no counter pick available, you still have to be able to play around him. Zed is a straight counter to Yasuo, but I would still pick Yasuo when I know I will face off against Zed in the mid lane, simply because I am very comfortable with Yasuo and understand both Yasuo's and Zed's power spikes, strengths, and weaknesses.

I just recommend you learn any champions strengths and weaknesses and play whatever you're comfortable with while also taking advantage of his weaknesses, and cautions of his strengths.

The best Riven main could still probably beat the best Garen main simply because of how skill plays a more important deciding factor in lane over Counter picks.

I agree, every game that a zed is on the enemy team, he gets fed, guaranteed.

Only few zed can use this edge to win. Zed has 30 minutes to make his team win. After that he koses so much power

Vesarixx2 votes

Ahri goes pretty even with him, it's a skill matchup between the two of them. Kayle counters him with her ult, as soon as he ults she can just ult as well and make his deathmark completely useles. Talon does well against him. You could go mid lane Irelia vs him, or Riven, both of them can deal with him really well.

Orianna is a good pick. When he ults you, just shield yourself and ult W when he appears. Negates damage, deals damage, interrupts combo, and kills the zed. As long as you wait for his W to be on cooldown, you can poke all day. Thunderlords mastery with ori's passive is great
