WHy do mids take ghost now
took ghost because everyone else takes it now and fed my ass off smh

So, your mid lane summoners's spell choices comes down to this
You are an assassin and/or you have a lot of kill potential
all the boring stuff i said before, but hey! you don't need it you deserve challenjour, knowledge is for nerd losers.
you need to save your ass from a burst damage that otherwise will get you killed
same as barrier but this is more sustained damage oriented (what is sustained damage? language is an option here...)
you need to turn an all in in your favor, by either winning it or evening it out
you just want to have a safe lane phase, splitpush like a madman, apply map pressure (assuming you know what that is)
PFFFFT, don't even bother, this is when you need to save yourself from a barrage of CCs, but since you suck and you won't use it properly and the enemy sucks as well and won't be able to hit a single spell unless you stand still or walk into it, not even worth mentioning.
Oh and by the way, everything everybody said below is trivial and/or wrong, congrats. And 2 dorans ring refund most costs of a waveclear, you might consider it when you don't get your blue and you're 170 cs at 30 minutes because you refused to press buttons on a wave for some reason.
Please spread this information to all your challenger friends since they didn't managed to figure this out on their own, it sickens me seeing headless chickens run around the map in my games.
Cuz fucking minion block is what gets you killed 99% of the time.
Only good for mid champs that are good at kiting like

They started taking it when lcs happened. Since everyone there took it....
It got buffed out the ass and is really good now
It's also good on melee junglers
immobile juggernauts

is similar to flash, but it takes vision ahead of time instead of a get out of caught land free card flash, thus when having vision ghost is more beneficial as its cooldown is much shorter
its another one of those defensive-aggressive spells
though its better used defensively.
It got buffed a ton and ISN'T A REPLACEMENT FOR FLASH FYI. Anyways, it helps Mages be less immobile since often what makes a Mage bad in a fight is being jumped on or people sitting outside your ability ranges. Any Assassins you see taking Ghost better rely on ganks from being invisible, otherwise I have no idea why they are taking it.
depends on the champ, some need a bit of a gap closer over extra a bit of true damage, others don't. it kinda depends on your playstyle
it helps immobile mages kite
Because a lot of midlaners are immobile and just rely on flash. I prefer barrier tho
