Personally, I think Malzahar needs some mechanics changes.
THIS IS MY FIRST POST REGARDING BALANCE, CONSTRUCTIVE CRITICISM WOULD BE APPRECIATED
Alright, let's be honest - Malzahar isn't omnipotent, but he damn well is above-average strong.
Even though I personally played as him only a few times, I always felt so powerful, and ended up ROFLstomping the enemy laner - and vice-versa, playing against Malzahar is very anti-fun for the enemy laner, because you're being threatened by a silence, a huge DPS tool, a suppression and also a %HP draining tool.
Although these things do make Malzahar as fun as he is, they can, and SHOULD, be updated to allow the enemy laner at least a bit more leeway, a chance to punish Malzahar, because at this moment, he can just sit back, farm with his E, and then go all-in when he wants to, without much the enemy laner can do to stop him.
So, let's cover his abilities, and what I SUGGEST can be changed. If you disagree, please be polite, as I'm definitely not a expert on the matters of balance.
His Q, Call of the Void, is a line silence that deals a fair amount of damage. This, I think, isn't something that ought to be changed. It's fine as-is, it CAN be dodged fairly easily, and takes at least some fair aim to land.
His W, Null Zone, is a %HP circle area. Now, this is where the problems get a bit more tough. Frankly, the Zone is easily passed through before it can do any meaningful damage, except if you're using it to aid your E-R combo. Suggested change : Make Null Zone larger, or make it slow opponents inside it somewhat akin to Viktor's Gravity Field. I'll leave the number-crunching up to you, but this is the general idea.
His E... oh God. Malefic Visions is a DPS tool that propagates if it kills a unit within an allotted time. It deals a huge amount of DPS, and also forces nearby Voidlings to attack the infected target. It also regenerates Malzahar's Mana for each unit killed, without a cap. Suggested change : Make Malzahar unable to regenerate Mana from unit kills with Malefic Visions, so he actually needs to pay a price for clearing up the entire wave. The damage itself can stay, because you technically CAN remove yourself from there. I was also toying with the idea of Voidlings' damage being ramped up against affected targets a bit (AD Malz?) You decide if you'll agree.
His R is Nether Grasp, a long-lasting suppression that also deals a huge amount of DPS. Most people also combine it with W and E to DPS a target down, 100-0. Suggested change : Think about the Cutthroat change. Instead of allowing people to be suppressed COMPLETELY, you can now replace it with a silence and a Cutthroat-like permaslow whilst in the Grasp's range. Whoever is targeted is still debilitated hugely, but at least has a chance to fight back if he can escape the Grasp.
So, that's it. I haven't crunched the numbers because I'm afraid I already screwed up big-time, so any constructive criticism would be helpful, so I can improve my future suggestions.
Sincerely,
- Val
