AFK is too punishing for teammates

AFK is always unfair, because we loses the same amount of LP... I mean, a good system can tackle against that? IF there's afk, why not cut the LP deduction by half when the afker's team loses? It's literally a waste of time playing a game that is 90% lost...

Thus wasting 2 hours? Because it take 2 games to climb back up?

Riot doesn't want you to reach your appropriate level of Rank too quickly. The incidence of AFK is a considered factor in their reckoning.

Yes, atleast give us afk player's income.

Taking away less MMR for afk teammates just teaches people to try to get their team to go afk when a situation looks bad so they can be punished less on the mmr. It would create a more toxic environment in ranked. Couple this with how it could allow duo's to abuse the ranked system by having one or the other go afk on crucial matches that would otherwise put them out of reach of placements and all you do is increase the amount of AFKs in games.

Because then, in every game where your team is loosing, someone could AFK to reduce everyone's LP loss.

Perhaps lose less if not none if you lose a game with an AFK or someone who ragequit/disconnected/left. And, if the chances of winning a game 4/5 occurs, gain more LP than usual.

In a way this could possibly teach Mr. AFK a lesson. Assuming his/her goal is to punish his/her entire team. Instead the team would not get punished, gain a possible bigger LP reward (if victory is achieved), and then in return be punished for AFKing or leaving.

Too bad you can't micro other peoples' champions after they DC.

Going 4v5 does suck, those games would be much more winnable if you could coordinate a priority order for who controls the leaver's champion and turn the game into more of a 4.5v5.

Adding better multi-unit control mechanics into League would also enable League to explore previously untapped champion designs. (A number of champions have 'controllable' minions, but their controls are either really indirect or rather bare bone)

If the start of this season has taught us anything is that anything that can be abused, will be abused. They really couldnt implement anything to address this without it being excessively punishing or abused.

Why is the first response to this always, “people will abuse this.” Make the person who AFKs take increased losses with an escalation system since Riot loves them so much and deduce for the rest of the team. If they’re duo they both get the same increased losses. It really shouldn’t be rocket science.
