29 Day Absence = De-rank

It's late July and I've FINALLY ranked up to Plat 5. All players know the struggle that is trying to achieve the next ranking bracket, and in this case it was especially hard. I've been playing league for a long time yet I've never achieved a higher ranking than Gold. This was my season though. A lot of Taric and Soraka games later I finally successfully completed my promotions into Plat 5! It was exhilarating! After 3 or so years I had finally achieved a milestone I've been endlessly striving for. I've dedicated insurmountable hours into this game and I felt truly accomplished for reaching the top 8% of players!

The unfortunate part happens when I come back from my vacation traveling around Europe in between the Summer and Autumn semesters of university. I log onto my account today and get a message saying I've been de-ranked to Gold 1. It may seem trivial, but that hit me pretty hard. This account is something I treasure (despite my IGN's subtle jab to Riot) and to lose something I've tirelessly worked towards just because I haven't played in a while is pretty saddening. I think if I'm going to de-rank it should be because of my loss of skill. It's stupid to automatically assume I'll be Gold 1 mmr after not playing for a month. Has my mmr really deteriorated just because I'm not actively playing? If I truly deserve the de-rank it will show up in my game play. Ranking up is not easy for me. It's not easy for anyone and I think it's quite a shame I have to do it all over again because I've simply been absent from the game.

It's not being assumed that you are worse, it's to keep the ladder competitive; only so many people can be in each division, so if you sit in a high rank that means someone else can't get in there. Decay is the only way to keep people coming back. If you got to Plat once you can do it again, especially since your MMR doesn't decay and you'll retain or have better LP gains.

itll take 5 wins for you to get plat. trust me when i say it wont be as hard as before because NOW you know you're worthy of plat.

also this happens everywhere . diamond 5 is full of boosted players and people who camp their accounts in there and just play normals now.

decay star once u hit plat, if u dont play a ranked game for 20 something days u start to loose lp, each day u dont play a ranked game u loose lp untill u play a ranked game. after reaching 0 lp, the next decay will get u to gold 1.
