My W-L ratio is positive but I am losing more LP than I win

I've lost a lot recently and my win-loss ratio is not as high as it was when I first placed--but I am still positive, However, I am losing more LP than I am winning. What gives? I've been duoing for 90% of my matches, would that have such a negative effect on my MMR?

The duoing can have a negative effect on your mmr (and it can have a positive one depending). You gain mmr when you win games, and you lose mmr when you lose games, but how much mmr to gain/lose depends on the average mmr of your opponents.

If you duo with someone with a much lower mmr than you, then your teams average mmr will likely be lower than your individual mmr, and so the opposing teams average mmr will likely be lower than your individual mmr, and so your mmr will gain relatively little if you win, but lose somewhat more if you lose. (Of course, duoing with someone worse than you to drag down the opposing teams average mmr does mean that you're more likely to be able to carry and win, so it's not necessarily disadvantageous to duo with low mmr people.)

The reverse is true as well, if you duo with high mmr people, then if you win the resulting games you'll stand to gain more mmr than you would solo, but you'd also lose less when you lost.

you're probably playing against scrubs

win against someone with a lower mmr and you're rewarded less, lose against them and you lose more

When you lose more lp than you gain it means your mmr is lower than the average mmr for that rank. If you start winning more games, your lp per win will increase. But if you keep losing more games than you win, your lp per win will decrease. Duoing affecting your lp gains and losses depends on the mmr of you and your partner(s). When duoing it takes the average mmr of the duo. So if I'm plat 1 duoing with a gold 5, the average mmr for people I'm versing is around plat 5. Because I would be plat 1 versing plat 5 players, my mmr would drop even if we win. If i was the gold 5 versing plat 5 players, my mmr would increase per win. significantly. You get how it works? I hope I didn't make this confusing

It's not because you are duoing. It's because your W/L, it's not positive.

You are probably losing more LP because you have an MMR that is lower than your division; you are duoing with someone who is below you and you lost the majority of those games to players ranked lower than you; and your win rate has been a little into the negative for the past 40 games.

The solution to every problem in an ELO system is to play more games. The whole system counts on you playing a billion games to reach your true ELO.

if ur duo partner is lower mmr than u then it reduces the avg team mmr, and u will get less lp per game
